Republicans depend on the big money of Sheldon Addelson, the Koch Brothers and other corporatist billionaires. However, the GOP’s biggest financial resource is the secret money funneled through political action groups masquerading as social welfare groups aka 501 c 4 groups.

ALEC is being targeted for an investigation for illegally financing extravagant trips for state legislators and misleading the Internal Revenue Service about their illicit activities.
Republicans have made no secret underfunding the IRS is punitive for what they cite as inappropriate actions over the phony scandal when IRS employees scrutinizing political groups.
However, many of the groups that the IRS investigated are guilty of perjury for failing to report, or underreporting, their political spending on tax forms filed with the IRS.
The real scandal is not that the IRS did its job, it is that groups like Rove’s GPS Crossroads and Koch brother’s Americans for Prosperity want tax exempt status for their partisan political fronts.
Regardless if religious organizations abuse their agreement with the IRS or not, it is long past the time to end their government-sanctioned and taxpayer-funded entitlements once and for all.
