They need to STOP following Trump all over the place and focus on Congress and world responses to this country. STOP focusing on the Orange head!!!!!

Garbage. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I’ve tuned out. Listening to NPR Radio and Substack!

Amen. That's what I'm doing. Even though I'm afraid that FFOTUS [#47] will destroy the booming economy he has inherited and will follow the example of every GOP President since Truman and lead us into a deep recession or {we're not supposed to say it} another Great Depression.

I don't see how listening to the Nice Polite Republicans (NPR) is any better. This is not the network of Susan Stamberg, Noah Adams and Bob Edwards. Since the beginning of the George W. Bush administration NPR has been complicit in helping move the goalposts ever rightward. I, for one, have no problem with Elmo Musk-rat and his minions defunding NPR.

They are shameless, greedy and deserve to go out of business.

We need an independent press, not a bunch of toadies.

I wish Acosta and Maddows and other ethical, moral journalists and anchors would start their own media outlet.

Maddow is a good corporate employee. If you want to understand Maddow's ambitions, the story of how she has willingly sold out people like Keith Olbermann to her bosses says a lot. That is not a knock on her coverage, but she is about as corporate as they get in media.---Jason

Maddow always says everything three times. I don't find it any more credible the second or third time around, and when has anything she ever said made a difference to any issue other than her paycheck?

Yes, she shone a light on the Flint water crisis and the cruel abuses of the Rick Snyder admin. Her reporting kept Snyder from his dreams of going to DC, along with his complicit AG Schuette. I am in MI and had no idea how depraved the GOP had become here. Now they are somehow back in charge of our legislature and I'm waiting for the next cruel laws to hit.

We voted for minimum wage hikes a decade ago, and would have been at $15 in 2023, but we're stuck at around $10 now. AND the GOP has convinced tipped wage earners that the bills are horrible for THEM, so they are fighting beside the GOP to stop a current bill to fix what the lame duck GOP stole.

But Vance? Worse

Expand full comment

The most likely Trump will die of heart attack, a stroke, or become mentally and physically incapacitated, necessitating his Cabinet and JD Vance to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove him from the Oval Office. I don't count on anybody in the House or Senate being successful in trying to Impeach him and remove him from office.

I hope our country can survive until that happens. But don’t look for Happy Days if CF Vance becomes President. He lacks charisma, but he’s smarter and knows Washington a bit better than LDFF. And has at least one tech bro behind him (pun possibly intentional?) Mr. Thiel.

He does not know DC. He was a Senator for two whole months when Trump's people tapped him. If he's intelligent, he hides it quite well. We know from the squirming church service the other day that he's no Christian. His Hindu wife was far more accepting of the message that day than any Republican ever will be.

I'm confused. I've been watching MSNBC for hours, except for Joe & Mika, as I'm sleeping when they're on. Andrea Mitchell is pathetic - I think she has health issues. The rest of MSNBC is completely against Trump, so I really don't know why you said "The network has gone all Trump, which appears to be the opposite of what many of its viewers seek." Or did you make an editing error and meant CNN which you talked about in the preceding paragraph. MSNBC is the ONLY network that is actively against Trump.

I am appreciative of what MSNBC was/is trying to do. But after watching them non-stop for 8 years I can say with certainty, they've avoided talking about the elephant in the room. The fact that the middle class has been gutted and has shrunk 10% over the last 40 years and is positioned to shrink more because of corporate America's unfair work compensations. This obvious, top tier issue is being squashed in favor of bowing to their billionaire corporate owners. You can pass that on to them for me. I know longer watch them.

I cannot watch the news channels anymore except for MSNBC for short periods because of Rachel Maddow, one of the only people reporting the truth. I will just have to wait it out until Trump is out of office. Very disappointing that the press can be handled/controlled by the Republicans.

Not precisely Republicans. By oligarchs who are mostly Republicans, although they’d support and elect whoever sweeps up if the were male, 35+, Natural Born citizen, and could be in front of a camera without collapsing. And swears to do their bidding, period.

I did not watch the inauguration, but I have been watching MSNBC starting that night. I do not feel that they have been overly Trump, after all we need to know what is going on. They have to inform the public. We have got to throw him out along with the Republican Congress. And that starts with calling your Senators asking them to block Trumps cabinet appointees. They are bad, Gifford and Kennedy being about as bad as you can get. We are in very crucial times, and if anyone has read about the rise of Hitler, they will see the similarities. Don't hide your head in the sand, sing petitions, call your congressmen, and vote in 2026!

I hold their sane washing and underreporting accountable for a convicted felon, racist fascist being in the WH in the first place, so I’m not the least bit surprised. As long as they refuse to report his unconstitutional acts, I’ll refuse to watch. My time and attention are better put elsewhere. Besides, I like facts.

Joe Kahn said he didn't think protecting democracy ought to be part of the New York Times' mission. Which apparently meant he thought that eroding democracy, human rights, climate safety, world stability, etc.....was fine. That's what he's done and he can own it now.

Trump had WaPo (the pitiful bit of it that's left) groveling in apology for some apparent insult yesterday. The fourth estate has failed us in their assault on Democrats, as well as on democracy.

I will never stop pointing out that the vast majority of Black voters chose Harris. White silliness accomplished this--Trump was the lesser candidate by any measure and I'm guessing that was clear even to most who voted for him. We're reaping what we sowed.

I am very upset. This is how countries lose their democracy with the quiet media leading.

I also really like Jim Acosta and Daniel Dale ~ wonder where he is.

While I like Jake Tapper why has he 2 hours every weekday plus every second Sunday morning while no Jim Acosta.

I agree. There was too much affirmation of him even before the election. In many respects, the media helped elect him. We watch MSNBC Andrea Mitchell, Nicole Wallace, Lawrence O’Donnell p Ali Velshi, and Rachel Maddow. The rest of the time we don’t watch news broadcasts. Occasionally, we switch to fox (we have a split screen) a bit until we’re ready to throw up or throw something at the screen. I also would like to hear fox news referred to simply as “fox.”. They aren’t a news channel. By calling them “news”, it affirms what they are doing as news and it isn’t.
