He proved what a real DEI hire looks like. He was clearaly a smoothe communicator, but lacked knowleddge of international agreements. He prepared to impress, with many references, but failed to study the job! Further, a lot of his knowledge was acquired from conservative media with that spin, so things like Trump meeting with the Taliban without Afghanistan government was missed, and Trump scheduling the departure so Biden had to honor the exit date.
Watching the Republicans falling out fawning over Hegseth was comical. They know he is not qualified but because Trump wants him they are debasing themselves supporting his nomination. I'm glad the Democrats did not hold back and asked the hard questions. The Republicans certainly weren't doing so.
Senate Dems have spines of steel and won’t put up with any nonsense from anyone—on either side of the aisle. If they find out one of their own members did something wrong, that person gets the boot—asap. So showing hegseth a revolving door and letting their colleagues on the other side of the aisle know what is acceptable and what is not, then they are the grownups and there to do what they are elected to, and show their constitutional duty vs a** kissing.
Not sure the hearing was long enough, broad enough and fair enough to keep Hegseth out. This will need a ton of pressure from constituents to push for a nay vote.
