In 1940, Mayer led a Hollywood coalition to try and buy "The Great Dictator" from Charlie Chaplin because they didn't want to "upset" Adenoid Hynkel, er, I mean Herr Paperhanger.
Mayer was the guy who organized - and enforced - The Hollywood Blacklist after HUAC came to town with the Hollywood Ten.
So no, I have no faith at all that anything Bernie says to Larry will have the slightest effect. (which is why I am glad I write books now rather than movies)
