I live in a rural area and our wonderful hospital has many Medicaid snd Medicare patients, which don’t sustain financial stability due to low reimbursements compared to many other states. It cannot sustain a drop in reimbursement from Medicaid or Medicare. We need people in Congress who actually care about improving the lives of the majority of Americans - not just the rich and corporations.

My brother is on Medicaid - he has two more years before he turns 65 and will be on Medicare. He is bed bound, and in a nursing facility. Most, if not all, of the patients there are on Medicaid. Cutting Medicaid is cruel, and will result in people dying, and others losing their jobs, but that is a sacrifice that the republicans are willing to inflict on others just to give the billionaires their tax cuts.

My brother is 56 and is on Medicaid for his severe Crohns. His infusions and other treatments totally depend on his Medicaid. 😬

Hey, republicans, forget that tax cuts, especially for the billionaires, who don't need them! Instead, invest in America, which y'all claim to love so much, yet never, ever want to spend money on - like helping those in need. Invest in schools, health care, food for the hungry, infrastructure, etc.

Sorry, but they’re not the least interested in any of that.

If Medicaid is cut, many hospitals will be forced to close, especially rural hospitals. How to pay? NO TAX CUTS for the billionaires, and is going to Mars the most important item this year?

Why not? We could use a little lobbying even if the incentives are not just to help every day Americans out of a sense of altruism….

Yes, whatever it takes to help all of these vulnerable people.

No Medicaid cuts, no Medicare cuts, no hollowing out of social security. No accessing and possibly selling personal data for a profit. These Evil Republicans are dismantling the whole social safety net behind the scenes (and out of sight) and pocketing the money. NOPE. These crooks have to be held accountable. Better by our own country because the rest of the world won’t be kind. And we will deserve it.

I understand those families who have loved ones in senior homes and the concern. My son is a therapist in a care facility. He shops for some who have no family. Slippers , sweatpants and a warm sweater and all the little things that most of us take for granted. To Trump they are losers and suckers.

Tax cuts for billionaires don’t accomplish anything, or improve the lives of Americans in any way. Medicaid, on the other hand, provides healthcare to our most vulnerable neighbors and their children. Anyone who doesn’t see a clear moral choice here has more than a few screws loose.

I'm happy that there's such a huge opposition, even from health care and business sectors, against this joke of an administration (or a 'wannabee regime').

Also, the Dems new strategy of blocking and forcing is something I support 100%!

Now, let's fill those voting booths and win those elections!

At last someone is helping us! Republicans have turned a deaf ear to all of our complaints & Trump & Musk don’t know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. i was a School Nurse for 25 years & saw children coming to school needing Health Care, Food, Clothing! Disturbing !!!

This is really a double edged sword. The health industry is not known for being concerned about actual health, but they are known for being concerned for their profits. However, closing hospitals doesn’t serve anyone. I imagine their industry lobbyists carry more weight than Everyman’s.

I've never really been someone who buys into conspiracy theories. I’ve always approached those kinds of ideas with skepticism, chalking them up to fear, paranoia, or just misinformation. But over the years, I’ve heard people talk about the idea that governments, ours included, might be trying to control the population. Not necessarily through obvious means, but by allowing certain groups to suffer, be neglected, or even die off, all under the radar.

For a long time, I dismissed those comments. It sounded too extreme, too far-fetched. But as time has gone on, I’ve found myself noticing patterns who gets help and who doesn’t, who gets access to resources and who gets left behind. And the more I pay attention, the harder it is to completely write it off.

I'm not saying I believe in every theory out there, but history has shown us that governments and institutions are capable of making decisions that disproportionately harm specific communities. Whether it’s through neglect, systemic inequality, or outright harm, it’s happened before. And if it's happened before, it’s not impossible that it could be happening again just in ways that are harder to detect.

I still don’t consider myself a conspiracist. But I do believe in asking hard questions and not assuming that those in power always have our best interests in mind. Some of the things people used to call “crazy” are starting to seem a little too close to reality.

Healthcare is the most vital servi ce for everyone. The healthcare industry must do everything it can to preserve Medicaid in order to pro ide these services. Cutting Medicaid is a form of discrimination.

Hallelujah someone else is in the fight!!!!! To cut to a safety net that so many people depend on, without a warning, without a strategy, without investigation, without any planning is an absolute abomination!!! By eliminating Medicaid, Republicans will set in motion a method to adversely affect and potentially kill some portion of the 70,000,000 people (adults & children) Medicaid covers!! Consider, for example, how many of us have parents, siblings or grandparents in nursing homes?? If Medicaid ends today, tomorrow the family starts paying the bill!

Kathy Petrey's avatar

Many individuals and families won't be able to pay the bill, so nursing homes, hospitals, clinics and their owners are at risk. I am hoping that the medical industry has enough clout to stop the cuts.
