II think it’s significant that Martin won even though Schumer, Jeffries and Pelosi endorsed Ben Wikler. You can interpret that as a turn away from business as usual for Democrats.

Expand full comment

Was Martin endorsed by AOC, Jasmine Crockett, and Liz Warren? He sounds like a fighter, like those wonderful ladies.

Expand full comment

That was exactly my thought. I think I’m happy he wasn’t endorsed by those 3. Those 3 have done nothing for us.

Expand full comment

Very telling, but a great sign. I hope there is change.

Expand full comment

Why aren’t those three seeing a new day?

Expand full comment

Schumer, Pelosi and Jeffries need to be aggressively primaried. We have had enough of the mild Dems.

Expand full comment

Jeffries and Schumer are completely ineffective.

Ben Wikler actually molded his strategy in Wisconsin from Ken Martin. In a HuffPost article detailing the accomplishments of the MN state trifecta in 2023, they made sure to single out Martin’s accomplishments in the state. Ben Wikler also made some statements in that article that when he was crowned WI state party D chair, in 2019, he met with Martin and embraced a lot of his ideas.

Also, going with younger opinions.

Expand full comment

It IS time for the Democratic Party to return to its roots. We need to help America’s workers make union protection strong again. We need younger candidates running for office—candidates who know how much a week’s worth of groceries cost and how tight a family’s budget can get when hit with an expected health crisis. End Citizens United and get political support from people, not corporations.

Ya think??? If Dems do not get to it NOW, they might as well give it up🙄🫤

It took less than a week for Trump and Musk to do insane damage. Asking for patience is asking for him to do even more in the meantime.

Expand full comment

But Trump's wrecking ball was years in the making. Hillary Clinton was right: There WAS a "vast right-wing conspiracy. Long-term planning along with patience -- and money -- brought Project 2025 to fruition.

It took President Musk and his lackey a week to “launch” their nefarious plans… they’ve been planning, scheming for much longer. Yes, I say “give him a day or two at least.”

And what do you want him to do?

Go after trump. Put roadblocks in his path at every turn. Keep the public informed on all of the illegal things that he is doing that will hurt us! Study Project 2025 and be ready to block his each and every move!

Not his job to block Trump. What specific mechanisms do you think he has? Do you think he hasn't absorbed every page of Project 2025 because I assure you he has.

Those were suggestions for him and anyone else such as Congressmen and Senators. He said they were going to fight trump. How do you suggest the Democrats fight trump? By raising money? A lot of good that did in 2024.

David, Even without a majority the Dems in the House can demand impeachment proceedings for Trumps high crimes: Pardoning 1500 convicted criminals many violent and white supremacists, firing FBi agents and Inspector Generals and many long time Fed employees with zero evidence of wrong doing. And allowing Musk to download all financial info of private citizens. Martin can enlist Raskin to lead this effort and exposure of Trump's abuse of power and obstruction of justice.

He can get the DNC to hire lawyers to bring countless suits against Trump for defamation of Democrats in office, such as "Newscum".

He can organize all the name brand Dems with 24/7 access to the media to use it to expose what Trump and Musk are doing. They should be on the air 24/7 attacking Trump.

He can attack the courts, and Trump's lawyers and complain to bar associations about Trumps intimidations and extortions against the legal systems used to hold Trump accountable and for all their frivolous lawsuits used as extortion tactics.

I'm sure there is a lot more things. Dems have to go on the offensive 24/7, and recapture the political dialogue. He must find those missing 81 million votes that fired Trump in 2020.

If the Democrats do not behave like Bolsheviks, and stop with pearl clutching about “descending to their level,” and if we do not ignore Michell Obama’s lofty but politically irresponsible counsel “when they go low, we go high,” we’ll get our balls handed to us every time. Martyrdom is NOT our goal, power is. We need to meet the Republicans in the basement with a switchblade and an AK-47 and make sure none of those traitors emerges alive.

Martin’s mantra when he was building back up the Minnesota DFL after 2010 was “the state party takes the low road so our candidates can take the high road.” That eventually culminated in the bare MN state trifecta where Ds managed to push through almost everything on their wishlist from 2023-2024.

Imagine that kind of leadership for all 50 states.

This business with Musk is I believe very dangerous! We need watch dogs on him at all times. He seems to think he can interfere in our government any time any where he wants. When have we ever had a civilian like this guy with his incredibly BLOATED EGO interfering in our government. God knows Trump is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he thinks he is! That’s why he keeps his college transcripts hidden and told both universities that he would sue if they ever released them. He’s actually quite EVIL rather stupid but very crafty. Now he’s set Musk loose on our government who knows what he’s been doing? I say he should lose his citizenship or back off! Big deal so he has more money than anyone else that doesn’t entitle him to be snooping around in our government! Trump is so foul, he’s a total Narcissist and likely Musk may be too. The entire Republican party owes us an apology because when they ran for election they ALL LIED! All they care about is shifting money around for themselves and their friends. I think it’s already past time to have Trump removed from office! Felonies, rapes why does he get a pass when others have not for far less offenses? There is something ROTTEN IN WASHINGTON DC, a large amount of illegality all started byTrump administration.

As for me. I’m off the couch streaming rom-coms all day. I’m now spending my free time calling congressional representatives, writing to corporations that I no longer support because they have kissed the tyrant’s ring. I am asking our elected representatives to stand together against all of Trump’s nominees, legislative initiatives and Executive Orders. Corporations have made a poor business decision to end their DEI programs. It’s been difficult to find enough qualified candidates for jobs and now they want to shrink the potential employee pool.

I encourage everyone to sent emails, make phone calls, write letters and boycott the businesses that have betrayed us.

You must have no understanding of how we lost to Trump twice. We have lost a big piece of our natural base, the working class, by allowing too much corporate money and lobbyists to infect our politics. Maybe you are corporate democrats or neoliberal democrats. Not much difference and both played right into Trumps pseudo populism. Do you understand that NAFTA cost several million union jobs to leave the rust belt and since Clinton pushed it through Congress and signed it that is one of the main reasons HRC lost those states and the election in 2016. The workers that lost their union jobs and had to take a job for half the pay and much less or no benefits were not going to vote for a Clinton. One man interviewed after the Dem convention last year was asked what he thought. He had lost his union job in Wisconsin. He said the convention was OK until Bill Clinton spoke and he had to turn it off. There is so much more. Later.

I want the DNC to be in Detroit with Mr. Martin and I want a list of at least a dozen steps we can do to stop our current situation. I’m surprised at Hakeem not getting behind Martin. We’ll see who gets shit done against the Nazican party.
