I saw the writing on the wall when he blocked the endorsement of VP Harris for president. I canceled my subscription right after that.

I cancelled WAPO in 2024 after the decision to not endorse Harris. Bald boy is going full on fascist in pursuit of lining his pockets with the upcoming tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. Screw Bezos and that cheap looking tramp he calls his fiance. He spends a lot of money on her plastic surgery, fillers, botox, and breast implants. It doesn't help because looks like a high priced hooker who'll do anything for money. She'll never be pretty no matter how is spent on plasic surgery.

Guess they didn't satisfy your need for self affirming opinions. I didn't think that is what journalism was for.

No, that would be Fox. Keep watching it.

Actually, the Washington Post has had a history of publishing a spectrum of viewpoints in their Opinion section. While I have vehemently disagreed with some of the writers over time, I have valued the opportunity to learn about perspectives that are different from mine. A newspaper with the owner taking over as the Opinion Editor is a signal that the opinions will likely be narrowed to fit with his ideology. It's truly tragic to see a paper with such a strong history of excellent journalism being transformed into a voice for the oligarchy.

Spouting about liberty while taking away the opinion columns liberty to write about what is relevant to the times… got it

Well, Trump finally got what he wanted, a failed Washington Post. Un-fucking-believable. 🤬

Who is even surprised? Trump has these guys (mostly gutless men) by the balls. They are basically being blackballed. All we, the people, can do is boycott. With no readers there is no Washington Post. Thousands of newspapers have gone by the wayside. I cancelled my subscription years ago.

No, they aren’t being blackmailed, they are paying a willing part to the destruction of our Freedoms in this country. He could have said no.

Not sad, now that it has gone ultra MAGA. A relief, actually. Now I have something to line the litter box.

I am concerned about the voice that will be gone and the talented writers, investigative reporters and unseen staffers losing their jobs. MSNBC just fired Joy Reid, Lester Holt leaves his anchor desk this summer..Nora O’Donnell, Jim Acosta…gone. I’m anguished by the loss of the Post’s high standards

As we all are. But I suspect that the loss of standards in legacy media is one reason we seek the truth in Substack.

Have been boycotting for two months, supporting small businesses & neighbor own bookstore. Finding these businesses at times not easy but when you do it’s gratifying..

So, if the Internet is filling the gap, what need is there for The Washington Post? Just cancel your subscriptions, folks. Nothing more of interest there that can't be found elsewhere, according to the owner.

How lucky we were when the 4th estate, the body of media meant to hold politicians and world leaders in check, was genuinely respected. Washington Posts’s Ben Bradlee and Katherine Graham made me proud to live in a free society where the closest thing we got to the truth was from reputable newspapers and hard working news men and women. They exposed corrupt politicians and wrote about the good guys too. It was such a joy to sit down with a great newspaper (where billionaires dare not tread) in order to better understand the world we lived in. I will forever miss those days.
