If the democrats vote for this budget, they are committing their own political suicide. I will change my party affiliation to independent.

Of course your independence is important but we need to join together as a FORCE FOR GOOD, against those who are outright evil!

I am fighting as hard as everyone else. It’s not only my independence that matters; it’s every person’s independence that is crucial. I don’t see any reason to help the fascists destroy our country.

I get it, I do, but please make sure you know what your state's new rules are for the Primary and General elections as some laws have changed.

Some states are “closed,” like Florida, which means in the Primary you can only vote for the candidates matching your party affiliation. Some states are reportedly “open” where voters are not required to have any party affiliation.

And the length of time for registering to vote and for voting, including early and mail-in voting, has changed in multiple states. ☮️

Thanks for the tip. I will certainly check the rules. But I’m soooooo disappointed with the democrats. What to do, what to do?

Rump is a master manipulator. He put forth a poison CR knowing that the democrats would cave because they care about their constituents. He exploits every opportunity that gives him a win. Democrats would do better if they read a book about narcissistic behavior to be better prepare themselves for these tactics. No one or the media had known how to deal with him since he came down that escalator in 2015. He cleaned the stage at the GQP primary in a matter of minutes. I believe there were 16(?) candidates on that stage. All those people that he bashed are now kissing the ring! Fortunately or unfortunately, I have learned from personal experience that you can’t win against a narcissist. Better to be a “gray rock” and just nod yes, then do what you need to do, add no fodder for their arguments that will be twisted into some unreality to be used against you and totally ignore them, give them no air to breathe.

Trump wants that shutdown !! Then he can have complete control over the government!! Get it?

I feel that way too and so do most other dems I know. But you know the Right has the media empire. And the echo chamber. So that is a consideration. I believe it’s a damned if you do, and damned if you don’t situation. The choice that allows us our dignity and identity will be the right choice.

I don’t think this is correct. The Republican CR includes serious cuts to social support services and gives Trump/Musk too much more runway to continue destroying government infrastructure. I seriously doubt all that was in an earlier bill supported by Democrats.

Roger Sardiña's avatar

Of course they will blame Dems….the majority of voters are aware of all the cuts to programs and want it to stop. The Dems need to forget about their personal fears and represent their constituents….or they will all lose their jobs in the coming elections and go down in history as enablers of a faschist regime

YES!! The REPUGNICANS have brought this on themselves. ALL SENATE DEMOCRATS MUST STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER AND DEFEAT THE CR. THE REPUBLICANS AND TRUMP OWN IT. MAKE SURE THEY KEEP IT!!! DO YOUR JOB!

Shut it all down --- they will try to blame the Democrats and some MAGAots may believe them -- but anyone with a brain will know exactly what's going on - and the Dems need to make it very clear. Stop bailing the Republicans out - time they put on some "grown up" pants and own what they are doing to their country. If you keep giving them off-ramps, they'll just keep right on doing what they are doing. I liken it to dealing with a petulant child that hasn't been brought up properly.

At some point, you gotta put your foot down.

Also, I am surprised that the weasel Republicans haven't blamed the measles outbreak on the Dems yet - maybe that's still coming?

Opportunities to put a stop to this Project 2025/Nazi regime takeover are dwindling - show the people who these guys really are and how much they DON'T care.

I called and emailed my senator- Fetterman- and told him to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

EDIT: …after Schumer explained why a shutdown would be worse, I do understand the reasoning, and agree that Sen. Fetterman will be doing the right thing, to avoid a shutdown. I wish the Dem leader had explained this sooner. I’ll call the senator’s office tomorrow and register my support.

Fetterman has been too wishy washy and willing to vote with the GOP. Supported him last time, but it’s time to move on. Perhaps we can get Bob Casey back.

I am not American, but it seems to me that your politicians have lost sight of why they are there. Surely it is to promote and fight for a free, fair and prosperous United States to the benefit of all Americans. And to promote world peace and stability. Or have I misunderstood what democracy is?

The Democrats that are emerging as leaders are the ones showing strength, standing up to this coup. We desperately need integrity over petty self interest. Even though the legacy media will try to spin it, a shutdown will absolutely belong to the Republicans. Common sense argument: who controls all branches of the government defines who is responsible!

No matter what lies Trump says the Rs “own” the potential shutdown because of the ways they have acquiesced their power to the Executive Branch. We have 3 co-equal branches of government for a reason, not a monarchy with a king. Rs need to recognize that they have taken an oath to defend the constitution!

Yes. It should be a bi-partisan plan that includes Democrats input. Otherwise, it would be foolish to ok a Republican only Bill just to avoid a shutdown. This is the Dems most important chance to do the right thing.
