The problem with waiting for them to crash and burn is that they may take our constitutional form of government with them. Our duty as citizens is to remove them before they get that far.

There is only one way to stop this madness. It is called Impeachment.

The Supreme Court in the aptly named case "Trump v United States" declared that the President is allowed to break the law when acting in his official capacity. They went on to specify that the people's only recourse is impeachment. Trying to fight every new assault in court won't stop the next one.

At this time, Democrats think impeachment is not possible because in order to convict, the cooperation of a small number of Republicans is necessary. But do not assume that this is impossible. Do Not Surrender In Advance. They're all politicians, and when pressure rises they react. Voters in red states are feeling the effects too -- perhaps even more, since they receive more federal benefits.

We need to begin the work of persuading Congress to impeach as soon as possible. Please see more information about this here

Get a majority of Democrats in the House and it will happen. It will never happen as long as there is a 1-vote GOP majority since they are all MAGA. (I wish I was wrong but I'm not)

You know that I have great respect for you, TC. But in this case, you are in fact wrong. Republicans are most definitely Not all MAGA.

There is a deep fissure in the GOP between MAGA extremists and traditional conservative Republicans. That's why it took multiple votes to elect a replacement Speaker in 2023. And it's why the debt ceiling was raised, military aid for Ukraine was approved, and funding was authorized to avoid a government shutdown in 2024. The MAGA faction vigorously opposed all of these, yet they passed by substantial margins in both houses.

My point in this post is that we can not surrender in advance. We can not refuse to engage in the one place where a true solution is possible just because the struggle will be difficult.

At the very least, let's not shut down conversation on the subject by predicting that "it'll never happen." We can start by naming specific Republicans who represent districts where MAGA is not a significant force. Two that immediately come to mind are Don Bacon (R-NB) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). There are many others.

While I agree with you that not all Republicans are personally committed to MAGA, the fact is that the normie republicans are happy to go along with MAGA. They have stayed within the party silently or occasionally "concerned", but like Susan Collins that concern never manifests itself as the slightest bit of action. Thus the idea that they are not all on board with this seems like a lie precisely because they never take action to change it.

Republicans have had a choice to make, stick to their principles or stick to Trump. They have chosen Trump and Trumpism every, single, time. At this point they have to step up in a bigger way for me to believe they are serious about opposing him.

That has already started. The same Democrat that proposed the other impeachments in his first term has already filed the bill for impeachment, but the problem is that Trump and his stooges control all three branch of government. The Democrats are fighting tooth and nail but the Republicans in Congress block everything and they refuse to buck Trump and Musk out of fear they will be primaried and lose their cushy jobs. Even if a lawsuit that might stop a lot of this bullshit reaches the Supreme Court will those dumb asses save the country or even follow the Constitution? I don't trust them at all!!

I am afraid it will take a real civil war to bring them down. I hope the military at least follows the constitution. The longer we let them solidify themselves the harder it will be to take back power. America has been taken by Russia from the inside it feels like. We are in dangerous times. Time for desperate measures. Unfortunately. They are messing with American's and Global security. Your mine and everyone else.

The only problem with impeachment, even if enough Republicans in the house voted for it (at least three Rs), it takes a supra majority in the Senate to convict. That would mean that at the very least it would take 11 Republican senators to vote for conviction. Last time there were only three or four R senators that voted for conviction. Do you really think that that many Republican senators would vote for conviction?

Impeachment would only eliminate T from the wheel of power, if successful. To be replaced by JDV......

And it has been speculated throughout this forum that that is the agenda anyway the Reps have in the background with T being called out unfit for office. And T is doing everything in his mentally deranged and more and more demented state laying the foundation for it. Project 2025 should be used as a source of information - and a document to check against what is outlined in action vs. what the admin has been doing so far.

Does "the president" know that most of both his and Musk's followers are critics who loathe them and watchdog news agencies? The number of followers, besides being a very adolescent way of thinking about anything, is not an indication of fandom.

They are peas in a pod, little rich whiners who never had to earn anything or experience any lack or struggle. They learned from their ruthless businessmen grifter white collar criminal fathers how the game is played and have done them proud. If not for their embracing their legacies this way, they would both be incels instead of baby daddy to countless raped women and wives. They think they are top gene material but they are actually the scum. Sad.

As have the electoral college and no punishment for cheating, like Gerrymandering and voter suppression, purging.
