Unless somebody in the know comes out and says yes, we got rid of her to please Trump, we can't know for sure. This does seem a lot like the CNN/Jim Acosta situation.---Jason

Don't pander, read between the lines. That's what happened. Jeez, what happened to you?

Just trying to stick to the facts as they are known. It is not pandering to want to be truthful. There were a lot of issues between Joy Reid and her bosses at MSNBC that pre-date Trump's win. Oliver Darcy has written about them in his newsletter, so we can't really know, but the facts, including her ratings suggest that there is more to the story that we don't know. Unlike some people, I don't write what people want to hear just for attention. I try to stick to providing information and any opinions are informed by available information.---Jason

I think, just my opinion, that in this case, Occam's Razor applies. I think you're afraid to be blunt, months, years ago I thought you were always right on target. Idk, maybe the threat of pressure by Trump's thugs is affecting you? I ALWAYS thought politicus.com was sharp and on top of the truth, never backing away from the obvious. No insult intended, I am worried about everything these days.

There is no pressure on us from anyone, but I do feel a responsibility to let Joy Reid tell HER story her own way. I feel that she is the only one who can adequately and fully say what happened. It is far from obvious what happened. Just like when other MSNBC people have left the network, there is usually more to it than the obvious answer. Plus, Trump is a pathological liar, and there is nothing that he says that should be believed. He could easily be hopping on the Reid situation to exploit for his own means. Joy Reid has a history of conflict with her bosses at MSNBC, so I am not going to attach an opinion that might be totally wrong and twist a narrative because of some people's opinions. I think framing Reid's firing especially as a race issue as Trump did is really unfair to her and har career, and I won't do that. I can assure you that we are committed to telling all stories truthfully, but just because in your opinion something is obvious, doesn't make it a fact. ---Jason

I don't get the Oliver Darcy newsletter. And I had no idea the purity of purpose behind your comment. I'm just waiting for Trump's promised retribution, standing by to watch the Free Press go full-Kremlim.

Losing Joy is tragic and politically motivated.

I don't think it was politically motivated at all. I think just like all the other outlets owned by big corporations that have caved, it is all about money. Remember, MSNBC leftward branding is basically just marketing. They have 0 progressives on the network, and more hours featuring former Republicans than progressives. Comcast needs government approval to spin off and likely sell MSNBC so they need to make sure the administration doesn't block them. It is the same thing other big corporate media has done since Trump won. Corporate owned media, including MSNBC only cares about profits. They aren't on your side or political.--Jason
