President Biden is using his remaining time in office to remind America about democracy by honoring the 1/6 Committee Chair and co-chair with the Presidential Citizens Medal.
This is as much about President Biden, as it is Ms. Cheney and Mr. Thompson. He continues to do his job, and to exemplify the courage of true leadership, as do these well deserving awardees. Each of these three have crossed boundaries and overcome significant challenges to Do the Big and Right Thing, amidst public rancor and disapproval. Even in the unthinkable swirl of our political and cultural time, President Biden steadfastly holds up honor and dignity, encouraging all of us to hold steady, and reminding us what is possible.
Brilliant!! Nothing like putting a stick in the next guy’s side to embarrass him further by the current President. Keep doing these amazing things in the remaining days of your presidency.
In early 2020 Donald Trump awarded the Medal of Freedom to one of the most vile, mean-spirited bigots ever to leave a greasy foot print on American history : Rush Limbaugh. And he did it during the televised State of the Union address. I was thinking that Biden's award to Thompson and Cheney is a way to offset or redress Trump's handing over such an enviable award to a wretched reprobate like Limbaugh. Alas. I am wrong. There is no way to undo the dastardly deed that Trump has wrought on the American political scene.
These individuals deserve this recognition by President Biden- they put aside their differences to do the difficult work of leading the investigation into the attack on our political system and on our capital. Liz Cheney was full aware that by doing so she would most likely be under attack from her party but she bravely took a stand for our country over that party. These awards are well deserved and truly do show Trump that Biden is still our leader!
After seeing the fools Trump gave the medal to last time he was in office, people who made laughingstocks of the medal, it’s great to see it going to two people who really deserve it.
Liz Cheney definitely exhibited a Profile in Courage, where far too many lawmakers walk the political plank of political uncorrectness! Kudos to Cheney!
I think it is great that the President has honored them with a medal. Now if only he could give a blanket pardon for the Jan 6th committee, I would feel better. I don't trust the Trump team to follow the law. Congratulations to both of them and to Biden for given them the Presidential Citizen's Metal.
While they certainly deserve it, he should award to Adam Kissinger as well along with Cassidy Hutchinson and offer her a pardon, because she will certainly be their target.
