Because he is not a political thug President Biden will be treated much the same way President Carter was treated after leaving office. Biden facilitated the creation of record job numbers. Biden elevated more judges to the bench. Biden took climate change seriously and on and on and on. It is not that Biden was a poor POTUS. It is that a plurality of citizens have lost their ability or interest in seeing reality as it is rather than as they wish it to be. In thinking clearly and with curiosity about the leaders they support. There is something wrong with the voters for Trump. Soon we will understand what that is. IMO!!!
A lot of the people who swung the election to Trump, I don't think there was anything wrong with them. They aren't paying attention, and Biden didn't command and demand their attention, so they don't know.----Jason
Perhaps you are correct. I would simply ask is it that they are not paying attention or could it be that there is an ongoing covert, sometimes overt effort to aid and assist in undermining the ability of citizens to think critically? Many online platforms have this as part of their agenda. Politicians including trump say it openly; DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE!!! AI will contribute massively to discontinuing critical thinking capacity in humans. It is a big bite with choking danger but I think it is an important factor. I also think (am qualified to have an opinion) that a large part of the population suffers from a level of maladaptive denial that has become toxic and explains the refrain "they do not care". Correct. But why?
I think it is harder for people to pay attention when we have large media committed to legitimizing false statements or at least equating them with reality. Being informed in today's environment for someone who doesn't follow politics is challenging.---Jason
Interesting that you mention the role that AI will play in the in the destruction of critical thinking skills. I would suggest that this has been going on for years in the form of social media. The algorithms that social media platforms use are AI driven classification models that capture the online behaviors of users in the form of likes, comments, sentiment, clicks, etc. This data is used to categorize users according to their ideological orientations and to suggest that they join social media groups of like-minded individuals. Once users (victims) become ensconced within these groups (AKA “filter bubbles”) they are fed a steady stream of disinformation to the exclusion of any countervailing data. The theory is that the outrage that users develop as a consequence of this manipulation will incentivize them to use the platform more frequently, to remain online longer. This results in more clicks on advertisements, thus fattening the coffers of bottom feeders like Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk. All done, of course, in the name of the First Amendment. This has played an outsized role fomenting division, self victimhood, grievance, crackpot conspiracy theories, and any number of other maladies that threaten the existence of our constitutional republic. Very cynical indeed!
Excellent work on explicating the point I so minimally made in my comment. The free speech aspect of social media is a scam upon the people however your comment makes crystal clear the specific ways in which this is true. All of it is designed and supported by a coordinated effort to dumb down the citizenry so that belief not critical thinking is the driving force in public discourse. It all makes me appreciate the fact that i am age advanced and may miss the digital apocalypse coming down the pike.
Really sad that viewers of Fox News and of other conservative news outlets do not have the ability check out what they are hearing. Apparently, they tune into the entertainment channel, Fox News, or other conservative news sources, and don't check out what what they heard. They bought what Trump wanted them to get, and tuned out everything else. It was easy and did not require you to be well informed. Now, many will pay with Medicaid being reduced or lowered benefits, and other programs that affect them or their family members. It is sad to see what gullibility and laziness will do to your lives, and to so many American's lives.
I'm not sure I agree with your last sentence. I have trumpers in my own family. Trying to understand why they support Trump is a mystery. They live in a fact-free world regarding Trump. When you confront them with one verifiable fact after another of the multitude of lies and cheating, whether in business or his personal life, you can see them quietly shaking their heads. They simply don't care.
The numbers show that "Trumpers" didn't win the election for him. The election was won by swing voters flipping back to Trump. The notion that Trumpers are all powerful or that every person who voted for Trump is MAGA. A lot of people tuned out on the election and decided to vote for Trump for whatever reason, but MAGA is actually very small and only 30%-33% of the electorate.---Jason
I said this as soon as I heard Harris was stepping in: Most Americans just are sophisticated enough to vote for a women for President...especially Republicans. We need more civic classes in our schools...starting in grade school.
The main thing to understand is that a president's legacy has very little to do with what the extremes on either side of politics think. It has to do with what those in the middle think and how they respond. They responded by throwing out of office a prefectly good president in favor of chaos. Why did they do that? Because they had a job? And all their friends had jobs? No, because one side screamed at them constantly about the bad state of the country. The other side wasted time self-criticizing themselves for every misstep.
So if you're a voter who is paying very little attention to facts and the subtleties of a capitalistic impropriety, your attention goes to the one who talks confidently and never admits mistakes rather than the one peeing their pants over a bad debate performance, a late change in candidacy, a VP candidate who might have (but didn't) resign his commission right before he would have been sent to war in the middle east, and so on.
People who are relying on a high degree of maladaptive denial cannot do anything but deny. To agree on any level would inflict a psychic wound they won't tolerate. As a retired, licensed mental health professional with 36 years of experience I look at all of this from that perspective. Trump is severely mentally ill. So are many powerful, wealthy white men - to some degree or other - who are afflicted with Personality Disorders (see DSM) that simply go unrecognized. Trump is a sick man. There is a problem with a mentally ill, criminal sociopath being elected POTUS.
I've noticed that many "trumpers" seem to lack any intellectual curiosity and are quite happy being spoon fed their news and views. TY for your comments.

Dementia is part of the problem, he's sun downing faster than he was when he lost in 2020 ✌🏻💙
