Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez turned out a record number of people during the western swing of the Fighting Oligarchy tour that went through Utah, Montana, and Idaho.
I can hardly begin to express my feelings about the success of the Fighting Oligarchy Tour. I attended the Warren, Michigan event and thought it was large and successful . Now, I read about the events in California and I feel excitement- perhaps we will bring an end to an authoritarian presidency and the ongoing domination of the country by the ultra-wealthy. More and more people are turning out to listen to Bernie and AOC- the more who listen , the more there are who will spread the word: we can fight oligarchy and we can win. We can restore democracy. We outnumber them. We have the power of numbers, we have the power to vote. We can end this attack on freedom.
Thank you for articulating your thoughts. We share your thoughts and concerns and we will continue to FIGHT TO RETURN OUR COUNTRY TO THE DEMOCRATIC ORDER THAT WE ENJOYED UNTIL JANUARY 20, 2025!!!!!
I would like the outcome to be better than it was at the start of the year. Biden did a good job and focused on the vulnerable people but we still had too many people on the streets. We had too many people living hand to mouth. We can do better. Dream big and we just might get there. Trump may finally teach people that the rich are not to be admired for being rich. They have to contribute to society, not just feed off it. Time to focus on a more just and fair society. Time to tax the rich at a minimum the same as everyone else. No more loopholes for them to transfer the burden of maintaining our country onto the back of the middle and working class. What was isn’t good enough. Many of our ills stem from the trauma of poverty. Ex. The cause of homelessness is the inability to afford housing. Trust me, no one makes homelessness their lifestyle choice. We can do better and we will just as soon as we defeat not only Trump/Muck but also the pernicious idea that the wealthy are to be admired and given deference. Never again. Inequality destroys democracy.
Nora, I replied once already with “Yes!” I’ve just reread what you have to say, and your words about homelessness have struck my heart. I am the coordinator of the homeless ministry in my church. We are a small, mostly progressive church (with a few theologically conservative holdouts) in a former farming area that has become a swept red destination for white flight from the Detroit suburbs. Most of the county believes we don’t have a homelessness problem here, but according to those who gather statistics, there are as many as 100 people sleeping rough every night. These include adults, the elderly, the desperately sick with cancer, children, ex-cons, the working poor, whole families. There are at least two homeless encampments that I know of, both illegal, of course. Heaven forbid that the homeless have somewhere that doesn’t cost anything to spend the night. As more and more wealthy suburbanites come here, rents are skyrocketing (as is true all over the country). This year, my own recent reached the limit of what I can afford- really, it may have surpassed it. Next year, if I’m not accepted into HUD supported senior housing I’ve applied to- if HUD is still funded then- I will have to go and live with my daughter and her family. The blessing of my daughter is all that will keep me from becoming homeless. Ironic, isn’t it? I’ve spent that last three years housing the homeless, but because of unbridled capitalism, because of the examples set by the oligarchs, I could wind up homeless. At the Bernie Sanders rally, Sean Fain, president of the UAW, wore a T-shirt that read “EAT THE RICH”. I day, don’t eat the rich, tax the rich. I don’t say eat the big corporations raking in huge amounts of money for houses and rental housing, I say regulate them. The profit motive, left unchecked, leads to rampant greed at the expense of the working class and the poor.
No, the rich are not to be admired. They are to be forced by law to pay their fair share of taxes. They are to be restrained in business from predatory, profitable practices (didn’t mean to alliterate!). We must take back the government form the hands of the unscrupulous and the super-rich who are so out of touch as to call the poor “parasites.” This is “Let them eat cake” all over again. We must organize national boycotts, as we have done, and national strikes. We must show that we, the majority of the people, have the power to stop the flow of wealth to the oligarchs. Then, and perhaps only then, will their grip on money and power loosen.
Bringing some little “peter”energy there buddy. You’re on the very wrong side of history. The books will look back at this time as a dark place in our history. Where the rich tried to take over our government and take away our freedoms. If you can’t see that, then you need to search out the real news the rest of us have.
We need more Bernie’s and many, many more AOC’s. They are spearheading the revolution that needs to happen to throw frump in the garbage. I’m totally on board. Anyone with me?
Thank you, Bernie and AOC. We need you to keep getting the message out that we are in grave danger and must be prepared to fight like hell to save our democracy from a dictatorship.
Awesome!! This weekend April 19th another huge protest. The organizers want 3.5% of the population to show up. That's 11 million people across the United States 🇺🇸. So let's see if that is the case! Spread the word, folks!! We need to keep this up. Never give in, never give up. We must continue to fight ahead 🦬 without fear. 🗽🇺🇸💙🩵🫂🌎
Fear is how they control us. If the Irish defeated the English, if the Ukrainians have held off the Russians, we can defeat Trump and his gang of criminals and thieves. Besides, they are stunningly incompetent. It rivals their corruption as the outstanding characteristic.
Call your senators and representatives. Tell them that the Constitution gave them the power to check the executive branch, not the other way around. They are derelict in their duty to defend the Constitution and you demand that they do so.
It only takes about two minutes to make the call. The information to contact them is readily available online. Speak about only one issue as they tally calls by subject matter. Don’t be rude or abusive. It’s not effective.
I call my Republican senator at least once a week. Do it. It works on the cockroach theory: we see one cockroach, we’re disgusted; we see two or three and begin to think there’s a problem, by the time we see a half dozen, we are convinced that there are millions of them behind the walls. Politicians get scared when calls start to pile up. Scare them into thinking that they’re going to lose their seats. Let them be the people who are scared, not us.
Impressive! My big hope that those rallies house thousands of Republicans who will vote Democratic. Bernie and AOC are fighting the good fight, and I can only hope they will be joined. by other Democrats who will hold more rallies. Trump and his army of repressive Republicans are so unpopular. This has to be turned into votes against this repressive regime!
She With Whom I Will Spend The Rest Of Time and I had our "first date" last Saturday; two old Sixties radicals went to the rally. I have been in demonstrations in Los Angeles since 1967, and this was the biggest event I've ever seen. Loved hearing Joan Baez, who I hadn't seen live since she came down to the Oleo Strut Coffeehouse in 1968, and Neil Young was great too - especially when Maxwell Frost got on the drums with the band. It was very inspiring.
Trump and cronies are drastically misreading the American people. As the Japanese general said after the strike on Pearl Harbour...we have unleased a roaring lion!
Putting on my Pacific War Historian's hat for a moment, it was Admiral Yamamoto who (allegedly) said "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible purpose."
Yes, you are correct. Thank you for correcting me!
I believe the dangerous and illegal actions of this administration have awakened angry Americans. We must unite and stand up for our constitution and rights.
Love to Bernie for always staying true to his message, which now is so much more relevant, and for supporting the US working people. Bernie and AOC bring hope and inspiration to keep the movement going💪
The crowds coming to see AOC and Bernie give me real hope for our country. The key will be to keep things going and to find a way to stop Trump musk and their hedge men in their tracks. It’s got to be fought from every angle until real democracy has control again. We have to restore the truth of America in our government, which is that all of us, ALL of us, belong here and are real Americans. and the wealthy must pay their fair share.ir

AOC and Bernie ROCK! My son went to the rally in Denver, and saud that it was amazing!
We need more Bernie’s and many, many more AOC’s. They are spearheading the revolution that needs to happen to throw frump in the garbage. I’m totally on board. Anyone with me?
Totally agree 👍🏼
Absolutely with you. We all need to join hands and fight this together. When we are together, we are much stronger.
Thank you, Bernie and AOC. We need you to keep getting the message out that we are in grave danger and must be prepared to fight like hell to save our democracy from a dictatorship.
I hope they just keep going they are amazing!!

Or DESPITE fear!
We have nothing to fear but fear itself!
Bravo Bernie!! Bravo Alexandria!! Bravo American participants!! Thank you from the bottom of our American hearts!!👏👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was there and it felt great to be part of it. So uplifting.

Bernie's office reports that 21% of those who attend are independents and 8% are Republicans.

Thank goodness for their efforts. I only hope that we actually have a midterm election to change things.
ALL American people have to push back on this fascist swine. Support AOC and Bernie.
