After Midterm Disaster, The GOP Wants to Nuke Mail in Voting

This sounds fair, does it not?

Everyone who wants to exercise their American right to vote must do so between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m on an otherwise random Tuesday. If you have to be at work before 8:00 a.m. and work a second job while picking up kids from Boys and Girls club, well – you don’t get to vote.

Get a better job with more seniority and thus more autonomy. Regaining the health of your 30-year-old self is a must if your trip involves public transportation and a three to four-block from there. Too bad.  Aged 90 and don’t have an I.D., you’re not voting.

The Republicans are opposed to democracy, and they’re no longer afraid to come right out and say it. Indeed, more and more, they seem somewhat proud of it.

Just musing through the Republican “regulars” on Twitter today, there is a prevailing theme you’ll pick up.

We will do it the moment that serious inaccuracies develop from mail-in voting. But since they are every bit as accurate as election day votes, the problem seems to come down to that pesky too much democracy thing.

One sentence, Brigitte’s gift to Twitter. Vote by mail equals more democracy, not a threat to democracy. Why don’t the Republicans simply encourage their voters to vote early… because they don’t have as many voters overall?

Yes, there are often circumstances when we want to go back to 1800 technology. If you cannot ride your handsome horse, sir (Only land-owning men voted by then.)

As you can see, the Republicans are bereft of any real justification, except they seem to do better in same-day voting thing. Donald Trump wants it like it used to be. Everyone voted, then gathered around the television to see who won. It was a much better show with higher ratings. The show must go on, according to Trump… and the Republican often wins.

“Stop the counting!” someone once famously said.
