Bill Maher has been pandering to the Fox News/MAGA crowd for months on his show, but with democracy on the brink, Maher is suddenly worried.
Video:
Maher said in part:
Even if Trump loses it doesn’t matter on inauguration day 2025 he’s going to show up whether he’s on the list or not and this time he’s not going to take no for an answer because this time he will have behind him the army of election deniers that is being elected in four days there are almost 300 candidates on the ballot this year who don’t believe in ballots and they’ll be the ones writing the rules and monitoring how votes are counted in 24. the facts the policies the behavior don’t matter anymore Trump could be filmed throwing a baby off a bridge and still win not to give Herschel Walker any ideas.
This really is the Crossing the Rubicon moment when the election deniers are elected which is often how countries slide into authoritarianism not with tanks in the streets but by electing the people who then have no intention of ever giving it back. The Republican up for Wisconsin governor just said if he’s elected quote Republicans will never lose another election.
…
This is the it can’t happen to us moment that’s happening to us right now. We just don’t feel it yet
We’re the Titanic right after the iceberg hit and honestly too many Americans just don’t care and won’t even care after it happens because they never followed politics to begin with and were never taught in school what democratic government was supposed to look like, so how sad can they be about losing something they never knew they had?
For months, Bill Maher has gone MAGA. He has courted the Fox News audience with rants against Democrats, liberals, progressives, and especially anything that he considers “woke.”
The biggest outlet giving his comments attention became Fox News, but with days to go before an election, MAGA Maher is worried about democracy.
The good news for America is that Bill Maher’s predictions are almost always wrong, and the gloom and doom scenario that he offered up in his New Rules is no different.
Maher assumes Republicans will win Congress when it is more likely that Democrats will keep the Senate.
Bill Maher thinks that election deniers are going to control the 2024 election, but this plan has already pretty much fallen apart. Election deniers have already lost in places like Georgia and are heading for defeat in other states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. While election deniers may be elected in Arizona, and Wisconsin, which Maher mentioned is a toss-up.
It is hypocritical of Bill Maher to spend months appealing to the right and then say that democracy is in peril.
Democracy is in peril, but the forces of freedom are putting up a great fight, and despite people like Bill Maher’s best efforts, will not allow the election deniers to win in 2022.
