JD Vance Crashes And Burns By Telling Women To Stay In Violent Marriages

Ohio Republican U.S. Senate candidate JD. Vance suggested that women should stay in bad and violent marriages for the benefit of children.

Vice News reported that Vance said while speaking at Southern California high school last September:

“This is one of the great tricks that I think the sexual revolution pulled on the American populace, which is the idea that like, ‘well, OK, these marriages were fundamentally, you know, they were maybe even violent, but certainly they were unhappy. And so getting rid of them and making it easier for people to shift spouses like they change their underwear, that’s going to make people happier in the long term,'” Vance said.

“And maybe it worked out for the moms and dads, though I’m skeptical. But it really didn’t work out for the kids of those marriages,” Vance continued. “And that’s what I think all of us should be honest about, is we’ve run this experiment in real time. And what we have is a lot of very, very real family dysfunction that’s making our kids unhappy.”

JD Vance Is Suggesting That Women Should Risk Death By Staying In Violent Relationships

JD Vance thinks women should stay in violent and abusive relationships “for the children,” but staying with a violent partner often results in death for women.

The CDC reported, “IPV is a significant public health issue that has many individual and societal costs. About 35% of female IPV survivors and more than 11% of male IPV survivors experience some form of physical injury related to IPV. IPV can also result in death. Data from U.S. crime reports suggest that about 1 in 5 homicide victims are killed by an intimate partner. The reports also found that over half of female homicide victims in the U.S. are killed by a current or former male intimate partner.”

JD Vance Wants To Harm Children To Keep Families Together

According to the Substance Abuse And Mental Health Services Administration, which is a part of HHS, “CDC reports that at least 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year and in 2018, nearly 1,770 children died of abuse and neglect in the United States. Rates of child abuse and neglect are five times higher for children in families with low socioeconomic status compared to children in families with higher socioeconomic status. In the U.S., the total lifetime economic burden associated with child abuse and neglect was approximately $428 billion in 2015.7 Child abuse and neglect can have a tremendous impact on lifelong health and wellbeing if left untreated.”

JD Vance Supports Violence Against Women And Children

The conventional wisdom used to be that Republican candidates took extreme positions to court their base voters, but they didn’t believe or would put policies in place that matched their radical rhetoric.

The giving of the benefit of the doubt to Republicans ended when Donald Trump was elected, and cruelty was the point of his policies.

The Supreme Court conservative majority made it clear when they overturned Roe that killing women was part of the “pro-life” far-right ideology. JD Vance is suggesting that a woman who was now potentially denied the choice to end her pregnancy will have a baby, and if she is in a violent relationship, she must stay for the sake of the child that in Ohio she was forced to give birth to.

Republicans are carrying out a campaign of violence and human rights abuses against women.

JD Vance has been a failure as a Senate candidate , but Republicans and the Supreme Court are sending a message to the nation’s women.

As our own Sarah Jones wrote, “The message is women and girls are not full citizens. This might not be the intention, but it is the impact…Republicans decry the accusation that they are waging war on women, but not only have they been doing so for decades, but they are now destroying the moral fiber of freedom.”
