Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney responded to Steve Bannon’s conviction with a message that should scare Trump.
Thompson and Cheney said in a joint statement, “The conviction of Steve Bannon is a victory for the rule of law and an important affirmation of the Select Committee’s work. As the prosecutor stated, Steve Bannon ‘chose allegiance to Donald Trump over compliance with the law.’ Just as there must be accountability for all those responsible for the events of January 6th, anyone who obstructs our investigation into these matters should face consequences. No one is above the law.”
The same 1/6 Committee that just got Steve Bannon locked up for potentially two years has accused Donald Trump of witness tampering.
Trump and his cronies have finally run into an investigation that they can’t obstruct, lie to, or talk their way out of.
Bannon’s conviction demonstrates that people who try to obstruct the 1/6 Committee end up being held accountable.
When Thompson and Cheney said that everyone who attempts to obstruct the investigation should be held accountable, they were talking about one person in particular.
If Donald Trump was scared of being prosecuted before, he should be absolutely terrified after Steve Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress.
