The 1/6 Committee will unveil smoking gun evidence of encrypted text messages between Trump allies and the militias that attacked the Capitol.
CNN’s Manu Raju tweeted:
It is a pretty safe guess who those “Trump allies” could be. The people who are known to have been associated with the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys in the run-up to 1/6 are Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Mike Flynn, and Steve Bannon.
Giuliani, Stone, and Flynn are all confirmed to have been in contact with Trump before the 1/6 attack. If the Committee can establish that there was a line of communication between Trump and the militias who attacked the Capitol, the evidence will be devastating to the former president and his party.
The fact that the allies of Trump and the militias tried to encrypt their communications is an indication that all parties knew that the talks they were engaging in were wrong and illegal.
People don’t need a cover-up unless they are committing crimes.
The encrypted texts could be the smoking gun link between Trump’s efforts to overturn the election and the 1/6 attack on the Capitol.
An important piece of the puzzle could come together during the 1/6 Committee hearing.
