The Republican defense of Trump was to scream at the witnesses, whine, and throw a tantrum during the impeachment hearing.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) was especially bad as he claimed that the Democrats want nude photos of Trump, and then when directly questioning Bill Taylor, he started ranting about Hillary Clinton.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was supposed to be Trump’s ringer on the committee who would make the case for Trump. Instead, he faceplanted in front of the nation.

The House Republicans had no defense, so they have spent most of their time behaving like dramatic tweens. Republicans thought that they could break Bill Taylor. Jordan tried to call Taylor the star witness and did his best to discredit him.
House Republicans have spent an entire day flailing and screeching, which was a useful strategy for whipping up attention and drama when they were in the majority. Republicans learned years ago that if they yell loud enough the media will pay attention.
The strategy doesn’t work in the minority, as Republicans are embarrassing themselves by trying to scream at witnesses until they get their way.
