Trump’s Russia Director Quits The Night Before Impeachment Testimony

Last updated on July 18th, 2023 at 11:52 am

Trump’s Russia Director at the NSC has quit and will testify before the impeachment investigation on Thursday.

NPR reported:

Tim Morrison, the top Russia official on President Trump’s National Security Council, who is scheduled to testify in the impeachment inquiry on Thursday, is expected to leave his White House post imminently, three sources familiar with the plan told NPR.

….

Morrison is a crucial figure in the House Democratic investigation into whether Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to launch an investigation of a political rival.

Morrison had alerted NSC lawyers about alleged demands being placed on the Ukrainian government to investigate a company where the son of former Vice President Joe Biden sat on the board, according to testimony earlier this month from William Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine.

It is expected that Morrison will confirm many of the details offered by other witnesses and add new information, as the conservative John Bolton hire will be another witness who paints a damning picture of Trump’s impeachable conduct.

Quitting is one sure way to avoid both being blocked by the White House from testifying and potential retribution from Donald Trump. The president and his allies have been trying to paint the impeachment witnesses from his own administration as deep state never Trumpers when the reality is that these witnesses are conservatives who are looking out for their country in the face of the presidential crime wave known as Donald Trump.

These aren’t Democrats are sealing Trump’s impeachment fate. Members of his own party are coming forward and making it clear that this president deserves to be impeached.
