Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell To Introduce Resolution Condemning Trump Impeachment

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will introduce a resolution condemning the impeachment of Donald Trump.

Eric Wasson of Bloomberg tweeted:

The fake Republican defense of Trump began with the illegal publicity stunt of storming the SCIF on Wednesday, and McConnell and Graham are set to get into the act with a Senate resolution condemning Trump impeachment.

The resolution is the impeach trial’s jury foreman (McConnell) condemning the investigation that will result in the trial of the president. The jury foreman’s wife (Elaine Chao) also serves in the cabinet of the impeached president.

Trump complained that Congressional Republicans were not doing enough to defend him on impeachment, which is why these grand and dopey gestures have been undertaken this week.

Trump needs to feel defended, so Republicans in Congress are using publicity stunts to make the president feel better. The reality is that Republicans are doing nothing to confront the facts of the impeachment investigation into Trump’s Ukraine behavior.

The empty gestures can’t hide the fact that Donald Trump committed an impeachable offense when he abused the power of the presidency to shakedown Ukraine for dirt on Joe Biden.
