Trump Is Blaming His Ukraine Call Impeachment On Rick Perry

Last updated on July 18th, 2023 at 11:34 am

Trump is trying to pin all the blame for the Ukraine call that touched off the whistleblower complaint that resulted in the impeachment probe on Rick Perry.

Axios reported:
President Trump told House Republicans that he made his now infamous phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the urging of Energy Secretary Rick Perry — a call Trump claimed he didn’t even want to make.

…..

Per the sources, Trump rattled off the same things he has been saying publicly — that his call with Zelensky was “perfect” and he did nothing wrong.

But he then threw Perry into the mix and said something to the effect of: “Not a lot of people know this but, I didn’t even want to make the call. The only reason I made the call was because Rick asked me to. Something about an LNG [liquified natural gas] plant,” one source said, recalling the president’s comments. 2 other sources confirmed the first source’s recollection.

For those who are keeping score at home, Trump has now blamed his own vice president, Mike Pence. Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, tried to blame the State Department, and now Trump is blaming Energy Secretary Rick Perry.

The hole in Trump’s blame Perry excuse is that Perry isn’t mentioned in the Ukraine phone call transcript, whistleblower complaint, or text messages that were released. Perry may have wanted the phone call, but there is no proof that he instructed Trump to pressure Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden. The evidence suggests that it was Rudy Giuliani who was feeding Trump Biden/Ukraine conspiracy theories.

Trump is looking for someone to take the fall for him. The president has continued to insist that he did nothing wrong in the call and that the call was “perfect.”

If there was no problem with the call, why is Trump trying to throw Perry under the bus?

Trump is busted, and before it is all said and done, he will blame everyone else for his impeachable offenses.
