Trump Admits Ukraine Whistleblower Complaint Is True, But Top Senate Republican Refuses To Believe It

Last updated on July 18th, 2023 at 11:32 am

The number two Republican in the Senate, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) refused to believe the whistleblower complaint, even after Trump admitted that he talked to Ukraine about Biden.

Philip Rucker of The Washington Post tweeted:

Cornyn’s denial came after Trump said on Sunday , “We had a great conversation. The conversation I had was largely congratulatory. It was largely corruption — all of the corruption taking place. It was largely the fact that we don’t want our people, like Vice President Biden and his son, creating to the corruption already in the Ukraine. And Ukraine — Ukraine has got a lot of problems. He — the new President is saying that he’s going to be able to rid the country of corruption. And I said that would be a great thing.”

This is why impeachment would be worthless.

Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans have already signaled that they may not even hold a vote on convicting Trump if the House impeaches him.

All the people who are clinging on to the belief that the Constitution can stop Donald Trump need to realize that it isn’t going to happen as long as Trump has a Republican majority of enablers in the Senate. The vast majority of Senate Republicans aren’t going to believe any impeachment articles that are brought against Trump. Sen. Cornyn refuses to hear Trump’s words that he tried to get Ukraine to collude with him and smear Biden.

This is the reality that America is living in.

There are no constitutional norms that will stop Donald Trump.

Voters are the only people with the rid the country of this president, and that day is coming in November 2020.
