Mitch McConnell’s Wife Under Investigation For Conflicts On Interest

The wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Trump Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, is under House investigation for conflicts of interest.

The New York Times reported:

The House Oversight and Reform Committee asked Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on Monday to turn over documents related to communication with her family’s shipping company as the panel stepped up an investigation into whether any actions taken by Ms. Chao amount to a conflict of interest.

….

“Federal regulations prohibit federal employees from using their public offices for the ‘private gain’” of friends or relatives, said the letter sent on Monday to Ms. Chao by the House investigators, who cited articles that appeared in The New York Times in June and Politico in 2018 that detailed continued ties between Ms. Chao and her family’s company. “Several reports indicate that you have used your official position to benefit Foremost Group, a shipping company owned by your father and sisters that is headquartered in New York and operates a fleet that transports materials to and from China.”

This is a scandal that has been brewing for years. Elaine Chao has shown that she is a perfect fit for the Trump administration by abusing her cabinet position for family financial gain. The fact that Chao is also the wife of Trump’s human shield in the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell adds a different layer to the story that goes beyond the now-standard corrupt Trump administration official does corrupt things.

The nexus between Chao, McConnell, and Trump deserves serious investigation.

The corruption in the Republican Party didn’t start with Trump, but it was the president who made it acceptable to be blatant about corrupt behavior.

The corruption is bigger than Trump, and it won’t stop until Trump and his crew are gone.
