Wallace asked, “Who thought it was a good idea for the President Of The United States to meet with Taliban leaders who have the blood of thousands of Americans on their hands just three days before 9/11?”
Pompeo tried to duck and dodge with the gibberish answer of, “You know, we know the history of Camp David. We reflected on that as we’ve been thinking about doing this for months. President Trump ultimately made the decision. He said I want to talk to President Ghani. I want to talk to these Taliban negotiators. I want to look them in the eye. I want to see if we can get to the final outcome that we need. It’s almost always because the person across the table isn’t exactly the finest.”
Wallace pressed on, “The Taliban had the deaths of thousands of Americans. It’s just three days before 9/11. No concerns about that? And I guess my question is, I can understand the envoy talking to him. Why does the president have to confer that status on them?”
Pompeo avoided the question and went for almost another minute praising the greatness of Donald Trump.
Trump planned to announce a phony peace deal with the Taliban on 9/11. The reason why Trump wanted to hold the days before the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on US soil is that he was trying to stage a publicity stunt. It was going to be a fake deal, just like the administration’s fake deal with North Korea that never existed, or the trade deal with Japan that Trump recently announced that has only been agreed to in principle, but not finalized.
It was a scam. Donald Trump was going to elevate the Taliban for what he thought would be his own political gain.
Things have gotten so crazy at the White House that Fox News is the Republican voice of reason.
If Trump had held this summit at Camp David with the Taliban right before 9/11, the public backlash would have been worse than anything that this White House has seen.
Trump is a lousy idea machine, but meeting with the Taliban on US soil right before 9/11 was one of his worst.
