Trump’s aides are openly worrying that he is increasingly unstable, shifting from moment to moment, and losing his mind.
President Donald Trump’s aides and confidants are growing more and more worried about his mental state after days of erratic behavior, wild outbursts, and bizarre fixations.
“No one knows what to expect from him anymore,” one former White House official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal conversations about the president, told Insider.
They added: “His mood changes from one minute to the next based on some headline or tweet, and the next thing you know his entire schedule gets tossed out the window because he’s losing his s—.”
This matches up with reporting from Politico’s Nancy Cook who said that White House aides have given up on correcting Trump, as they believe that it is no longer worth the hassle to try to correct his insane and wrong ideas.
Trump has forced out of his administration every individual who placed a check on him or told him no.
What remains in the White House is a group of people who have been beaten the crazy or committed enablers of the president’s mental decline. It has been true ever since Trump was running for the president that he is unfit for the office.
The dynamic that has changed since his candidacy is that the presidency itself has put Trump under a microscope and boxed him in. Trump can’t hide his behavior by shifting attention to Hillary Clinton as he did during the 2016 campaign. He is the center of American politics. Every statement, every tweet, and every crazy conspiracy get seen by the entire country. Trump hasn’t gotten crazier. Without anyone to check him and the relentless spotlight of the presidency, the crazy is on full display.
The biggest reason why Trump is likely to lose is that Americans are worn out by Trump’s insanity, and want things to go back to normal.
