Trump Rigs The Republican Primary As 4 States Eliminate Contests

Trump’s total control of the Republican Party has resulted in at least four states eliminating their primaries and caucuses, which will suffocate his primary challengers.

Politico reported:

Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers.

Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.

Trump and his allies and the Republican National Committee are doing whatever they can do to eliminate primaries in certain states and make it very difficult for primary challengers to get on the ballot in a number of states,” said former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), who recently launched his primary campaign against the president. “It’s wrong, the RNC should be ashamed of itself, and I think it does show that Trump is afraid of a serious primary challenge because he knows his support is very soft.”

Trump has taken over the entire Republican Party. The RNC is an arm of Trump.
The president and his allies have had the wheels in motion to rig the primary since the RNC endorsed Trump for reelection months ago. Anyone who is hoping for a primary contest where Trump will be challenged is going to be disappointed. The RNC previously announced that they would not be holding any primary debates, and now states, including two important early states, won’t be holding primaries and caucuses.

Trump’s support within the Republican Party strong, so the odds of him losing a primary contest are minimal, but it speaks volumes about the president’s contempt for democracy that he would rather rig a primary than face a contested legitimate contest.
