Trump’s own FBI Director Chris Wray said during his Senate testimony that the Russians are still trying to interfere in US elections.
Video:
Director Wray was asked by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) if the Russians are still trying to interfere in our elections.
Wray answered, “The Russians are absolutely intent on trying to interfere in our elections.”
Graham asked if the sanctions have deterred the Russians enough. Wray said, “In my view until they stop, they haven’t been deterred enough.”
Graham asked, “And they’re still at it?” Wray responded, “Yes.”
Trump has consistently defended Putin and denied that the Russians interfered in the election to help him. He has blamed former President Obama for the Russian election attack, and he has tried to block actions to stop Russia from attacking US elections.
Donald Trump has spent his entire presidency denying or defending Russian election attacks on the US. Trump has already made it clear that wants more foreign governments to interfere in the 2020 election for him.
Director Wray has beaten this drum each time that he has appeared before Congress. The 2016 Russian election attack was not a one-time operation. Donald Trump won’t admit it, but the Russians are still working to interfere in US elections. The threat is real and the intelligence community is working hard to protect Americans elections from the threat that is both outside of the United States and inside the Oval Office.
