House Speaker Nancy Pelosi absolutely laid into William Barr on Tuesday, saying Donald Trump’s attorney general has zero credibility and nobody should listen to his BS.
According to The Washington Post, the nation’s most powerful Democrat “declined to answer a reporter’s question about an assertion by Attorney General William P. Barr, saying he had lied to Congress and that she would no longer address ‘anything more that he has to say.'”
“I don’t even want to address him,” Pelosi said. “He has lied to Congress as the attorney general of the United States. He’s lied under oath. I’m not speaking to anything more that he has to say.”
The Speaker’s straight talk about Barr comes a day after the attorney general accused Democrats of making a “public spectacle” of Robert Mueller’s highly anticipated testimony set for July 17.
“I’m not sure what purpose is served by dragging him up there and trying to grill him,” the attorney general said, all but asking Mueller not to follow through with the planned testimony. “I don’t think Mueller should be treated that way or subject himself to that, if he doesn’t want to.”
The American people can’t trust Bill Barr
Bill Barr’s credibility evaporated almost immediately upon taking over as Donald Trump’s attorney general.
Not only did he release a summary meant to mislead the public on the contents of the damning Mueller report, but he lied to Congress when he told a House subcommittee that he hasn’t aware the special counsel had concerns about his characterization of Mueller’s findings.
In fact, Mueller didn’t just express frustration over the Barr memo in a letter to the attorney general. He followed it up with a phone call to Barr urging him to release the summaries prepared by the special counsel team to clear up any confusion that was created by the initial memo.
In a new interview with The New York Times, Barr again showed he has no shame in appearing as a Trump puppet when he doubled down on his push to investigate those who started the Russia investigation.
“What we’re looking at is: What was the predicate for conducting a counterintelligence investigation on the Trump campaign?” the attorney general said. “How did the bogus narrative begin that Trump was essentially in cahoots with Russia to interfere with the U.S. election?”
Time and again, William Barr has proven that he has no credibility, just as he has no intention of defending the rule of law. He is a Trump hack who, as Nancy Pelosi said on Tuesday, we’d all be smart to ignore.
