Trump To Assert Bogus “Absolute Immunity” Claim To Keep Annie Donaldson From Testifying

Trump is going to block former top aide Annie Donaldson from testifying before the House Judiciary Committee with a bogus claim of absolute immunity.

Politico reported:

Donaldson negotiated a deal with the committee that would require her to submit written answers within a week of receiving the questions. The committee is able to schedule in-person testimony after Nov. 1. CNN first reported the terms of the agreement.

But the White House, which has been involved in the negotiations, is expected to assert its claims that former aides have “absolute immunity” from testifying to Congress about their service in the White House, sources said. Democrats have said that claim is legally baseless and are vowing to defeat it in federal court. A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump Won’t Stop Until The Courts Shut Him Down

Trump is going to block every single witness and document that Democrats subpoena or request in a never before seen campaign of obstruction. Trump won’t stop until the courts put an end to this, and if he defies the court order, House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has warned that he will support impeachment. There is no such thing as absolute immunity. It is not a legal term. It does not exist. Absolute immunity sounds like a rejected idea from one of Trump’s seasons of The Apprentice.

If the president is innocent, why does he continue to block witnesses to his behavior from testifying?

The answer is that Trump isn’t innocent, and his obstruction of congressional investigations is likely to be included in his articles of impeachment.

There are only two ways for this to end. Either Donald Trump loses in court and complies with the court order, or he gets impeached.

Either way, absolute immunity is an absolute failure.
