House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has subpoenaed Felix Sater after he didn’t show up for an interview.
Patrick Boland, spokesman for the House Intelligence Committee, said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, “The Committee had scheduled a voluntary staff-level interview with Mr. Sater, but he did not show up this morning as agreed. As a result, the Committee is issuing a subpoena to compel his testimony.”
Sater is a career criminal with Russia ties who has extensive knowledge of Trump’s financial dealings, hotel projects, and potential money laundering for Russia. Sater is standing by Trump so far, but he is a witness who could provide valuable insight into one of Adam Schiff’s major counterintelligence concerns that the Russians have financial leverage over Trump that they are using to dictate foreign policy.
Felix Sater’s dodge of the committee won’t last for long. After Trump screwed up the Hope Hicks testimony and gave Democrats an opening to destroy his claims of total immunity over witnesses, the teetering Trump obstruction scheme is about to come crashing down.
Sater didn’t show, but it a matter of time before Schiff gets the answers that he needs to follow the money on Trump.
