With 2020 on the horizon, it appears voters in Trump country don’t think this president and his party give a damn about them.
At a town hall event in a Pennsylvania county that Donald Trump easily carried in 2016, a crowd of attendees laughed when they were asked about the Trump-GOP tax scam.
Although the economy remains on a positive trend that started under Barack Obama, MSNBC host Chris Matthews noted that jobs still don’t pay enough, even though unemployment is low.
“A lot of the jobs don’t pay much,” Matthews said. “Did anybody here benefit from the tax cut?”
Many in the crowd either laughed or shouted, “No!”

In 2016, Donald Trump managed to con enough voters into thinking he would break the status quo and stand up for workers, but now he has a record to run on – and it’s a complete betrayal of the promises he made during his campaign.
As a result, the American people won’t give him the benefit of the doubt this time, even in counties that overwhelmingly supported him two years ago.
Trump carried Luzerne county – where the MSNBC town hall took place on Thursday – by a 58 to 38 margin against Hillary Clinton in the last presidential election. According to WBUR, Trump’s margin in this particular Pennsylvania county made up a stunning 60 percent of his victory margin statewide.
In other words, if this part of the Keystone State is slipping away from Trump, it’s a bad sign for the president who needs to hold Pennsylvania in his column if he wants to win a second term in the White House.
