Adam Schiff Drills Rudy Giuliani For Biden/Ukraine Lie

Last updated on July 18th, 2023 at 11:28 am

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) blasted Rudy Giuliani and Trump for abusing presidential power to push a lie against Joe Biden.

Schiff told Axios:

I give Giuliani credit for consistency. He said just a few weeks that there’s nothing wrong with seeking help from a foreign power. … The fact that he would be so open about it, boastful almost, doing it with the knowledge and support of the president — it takes your breath away. I continue to think I’ll cease to be shocked. And then I’m shocked again.

Imagine in an ordinary world, the lawyer of the president going to a foreign power and trying to encourage them to investigate the family of a political opponent. He said some people might think it’s improper. Arguably everyone thinks it’s improper. But that’s not stopping them.

As Matthew Miller said on MSNBC, the whole Biden/Ukraine smear is based on a lie:

Trump is using the presidency to pressure a foreign government to smear his political opponents

Trump is trying to use the presidency to pressure foreign governments to help him smear his political opponents with lies. It is the 2016 Russia strategy all over again, with the difference being that since Trump is president, he can openly use the office of the presidency to try to dig up dirt on any of his potential 2020 opponents.

Donald Trump trying to sell Joe Biden as corrupt is laughable. Trump is trying to run the same playbook that he ran against Hillary Clinton, but Biden isn’t Hillary Clinton. Biden doesn’t have decades of scandals and paranoid Republican conspiracies that Trump can use to turn voters against him.

Rep. Schiff was correct. The Trump crew has no ethics or decency. If the country is going to be rid of them, the Trumps must be treated like a criminal element, not a viable option for the nation’s future.
