Rachel Maddow: The Dam Is Breaking And Trump’s Financial History Is About To Come Pouring Out

Rachel Maddow said The New York Times bombshell published Tuesday about Donald Trump’s taxes is just the latest indication that the dam this president has built to block the release of his financial information is finally beginning to break.

Not only is it beginning to break, but the MSNBC host says there is no telling what Trump will do once it does, particularly given how desperate he and his family have tried to keep this information from public view.

“There is this dam he is trying to build here and shore up here to hold back access to his tax information and his financial information, and it is starting to spring leaks all over the place,” Maddow said.

She added, “It is hard to know what’s going to happen when that dam finally breaks, given the president’s palpable desperation on this issue.”

Maddow said:

No serious legal observers seem to think that those lawsuits filed by Trump and his kids, trying to block the banks and accounting firms from handing over those materials, nobody seems to think those lawsuits have a prayer in the long run. You can’t stop a third party, you can’t stop a private entity from complying with a lawfully issued subpoena just because you don’t want them to hand your stuff over. But the president’s desperation to try to stop any of this financial stuff, any of this tax stuff in particular from being handed over, it’s so complete, it’s so exhaustive, that even those destined to be futile lawsuits, those doomed lawsuits trying to block those congressional subpoenas to those banks and the accounting firm, those are apparently worth the expense to the president just because they bought him a little more delay, a little more time even though ultimately they will fail. There is this dam he is trying to build here and shore up here to hold back access to his tax information and his financial information, and it is starting to spring leaks all over the place. I mean, otherwise, we wouldn’t have this headline story tonight in The New York Times. And it is hard to know what’s going to happen when that dam finally breaks, given the president’s palpable desperation on this issue. I mean, right? He’s declared his red line. This is his red line getting crossed.

Trump is losing his fight to hide his financial history

Since he was a candidate for president, Donald Trump has fought tirelessly to keep the public from seeing details related to his financial history.

That’s because, as The New York Times shed further light on Tuesday, Trump is a fraud. He’s never been a successful businessman – and he likely has never been an actual billionaire.

With Democrats continuing to dig into his shady business dealings and the state of New York moving quickly to get more information released to the public, the damn is beginning to break.

Donald Trump’s biggest fear – having his tax returns and other financial documents released to the public – is about to be realized.
