Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) took Attorney General Barr apart in less than a minute as the evasive AG was no match for the Democratic presidential candidate.
Here was how it went down:
Sen. Harris: Attorney general Barr has the president or anyone at the white house suggested that you open an investigation of anyone?
Barr: I wouldn’t, uh —
Harris: Yes or no?
Barr: Could you repeat that question?
Harris: I will repeat. Has the president or anyone at the white house ever asked or suggested that you open an investigation of anyone? Yes or no, please, sir.
Harris: The president or anybody else? Seems you would remember something like that and be able to tell us.
Barr: Yeah, but I’m trying to grapple with the word “Suggest.” I mean, there have been discussions of matters out there that they’ve not asked me to open an investigation.
Harris: Perhaps they’ve suggested?
Barr: I don’t know. I wouldn’t say suggested.
Harris: Hinted.
Barr: I don’t know.

Sen. Harris showed why so many Democrats support her presidential campaign. She blocked all of Barr’s exit ramps and had him stumbling and “grappling” with the word suggested. One of the reasons why House Democrats want a lawyer to question Barr at their scheduled hearing on Thursday was in evidence during the Senate hearing. The Senators who were prosecutors, for example, but not limited to, Blumenthal and Harris had a much easier time cutting through Barr’s evasions and diversions.
Harris is a formidable presidential candidate, and even “Trump’s Roy Cohn” didn’t stand a chance against her in front of the Judiciary Committee.
