Mueller Privately Told Bill Barr That His Summary Of The Russia Report Was Bogus

Following the release of attorney general William Barr’s four-page memo last month, special counsel Robert Mueller reportedly wrote a letter to the attorney general saying the summary didn’t accurately capture the “substance” of the special counsel report.

According to The Washington Post, not only did Mueller express his concerns in a letter, but he followed it up with a phone call to Barr in which he told the attorney general to release the summaries his team had prepared specifically for public view.

Mueller’s letter to the attorney general reportedly “shocked senior Justice Department officials.”

More from the bombshell report:

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III wrote a letter in late March complaining to Attorney General William P. Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of Mueller’s work, according to a copy of the letter reviewed Tuesday by The Washington Post.

Days after Barr’s announcement, Mueller wrote a previously unknown private letter to the Justice Department, which revealed a degree of dissatisfaction with the public discussion of Mueller’s work that shocked senior Justice Department officials, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Washington Post reporter Robert Costa explained more on MSNBC’s Hardball on Tuesday:

Costa reported:

My colleagues at The Washington Post, our team that covers the Department of Justice, are reporting tonight that in that period between when the attorney general released his summary of Mr. Mueller’s findings and the release of the full report by the attorney general, the special counsel Robert Mueller sent a letter to the attorney general expressing his dissatisfaction with the way the Justice Department, and in particular the AG, handled his own report.

Mueller’s letter confirms the cover-up

The fact that Mueller immediately reached out to William Barr confirms that the attorney general was working on behalf of Donald Trump to cover up the true contents of the special counsel report.

The reporting also clarifies why Barr is so reluctant to testify before Congress again: He has been caught red-handed putting Trump over the rule of law. He knowingly misled the public on the report in order to shield his boss from political damage.

The attorney general may have given Trump four weeks to get in front of the Mueller report – which turned out to be a damning document – but the cover-up has officially been exposed.
