Democratic. Rep. Maxine Waters, the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, said on Tuesday that attorney general William Barr should resign or get ready to face impeachment.
The congresswoman’s comments come after it was revealed that special counsel Robert Mueller complained to Barr last month about his misleading portrayal of the Russia report.
“I think that Barr should resign,” Waters said. “And if he does not resign, he should be facing impeachment proceedings.”

Rep. Waters said:
I think that Barr should resign. And if he does not resign, he should be facing impeachment proceedings also. He has abdicated on his responsibility. He has lied. He has used the very words coming right out of the president’s mouth: no collusion, no collusion, no collusion, and made a decision that despite what the special counsel put into that report about obstruction of justice, he said he made the decision that he had not obstructed justice. It is outrageous, and he needs to go.
Bill Barr has put a stain on the Justice Department
Mueller’s letter to Barr confirms what most of us have known for over a month: The attorney general isn’t concerned about the rule of law. He only cares about acting as a political shield for Donald Trump.
The fact that this letter from Mueller was leaked publicly the day before Barr’s testimony before the Senate speaks volumes about how frustrated the special counsel was and likely still is about the attorney general intentionally lying to the American public for weeks about the Russia report.
Bill Barr has forever tarnished his own reputation and put a stain on the Department of Justice. If he doesn’t resign, Democrats in Congress should move to impeach him.
