Adam Schiff Just Blasted Republicans For Being A Trump Cult

Last updated on September 25th, 2023 at 02:49 pm

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) blasted Republicans for having no independence from the president and being a Trump cult of personality.

Adam Schiff Republicans Are A Cult of Personality That Threatens Democracy

Schiff was asked on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports if Democrats would move forward with impeachment knowing that Senate Republicans will oppose it.

He answered, “I think we have seen a wholesale abdication responsibility by the GOP leadership, by people like Kevin Mccarthy , Mitch Mcconnell who do whatever the president says. That includes when the president wants to go around Congress power of the purse. It includes issues of malfeasance, corruption within the administration. There’s been little or no appetite to stand up to the president in no meaningful way. That really has our democracy trembling. An impeachment proceeding cannot be successful if one party decides they are more loyal to the party and the person of the president than the country. That’s a real structural problem right now. The GOP has no independence from this person. It’s made itself a cult of trump’s personality. It does threaten our democratic institutions. We’ll have to figure out what that means in terms that we have a GOP so willing to overlook its constitutional obligations, but that is where we are.”

Republicans Are A Trump Cult

The Republican Party is in crisis. The party looks to have been compromised by Russian money. They have abandoned any sense of governing and principles. They have become a cult that exists to bow down to and flatter Donald Trump.

Rep. Schiff was right. The Republicans are a threat to the nation’s Democratic institutions because they refuse to put country first and stand up to their president. The Republican Trump cult is the biggest reason why impeachment will fail. Senate Republicans are afraid of Trump’s supporters. Senate Republicans would instead drink the Trump Flavor Aid then grow a spine so they could stand up to this president.
