Former Federal Prosecutor Says Trump’s Own Team Likely Outed Him For Corrupt Intent

Former Federal Prosecutor Glenn Kirschner said on Tuesday that the reason Donald Trump is so terrified of the Mueller report is that it could show that his own staff members have outed him for having corrupt intent.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Kirschner said one person that “could be a real danger zone” for Trump is Don McGahn, the former White House counsel.

Kirschner explained that McGahn had “everything to lose” by lying to Robert Mueller, so he likely spilled the beans – and that could make the special counsel report a damning document for the president.

The former federal prosecutor said people like McGahn who have worked closely with Trump could give the American people a look “inside the president’s mind” and see that his intent is “corrupt.”

Kirschner said:

Don McGahn? What does he have to gain by telling the truth, by providing incriminating information about Trump? He has nothing to gain, but he has everything to lose if he lied to special counsel. And let me just spin this one scenario out, Chris. Let’s assume Don McGahn is talking to the president. The president thinks it’s kind of a one on one. Nobody is going to repeat this outside of the Oval Office. The president makes a request to do something and Don McGahn says, ‘Mr. President, you can’t do that. It’s not lawful.’ And the president says, ‘I don’t care, Don. Make it happen.’ Well, you know what, we just looked inside the president’s mind and we saw his intent, and it’s corrupt. McGahn could be a real danger zone to the president.

No wonder Trump is terrified

With less than two days until Robert Mueller’s redacted report is released, it’s no wonder Trump is feeling uneasy.

According to The Washington Post, the president’s biggest fear is that his staff told the truth when they were questioned by Mueller.

The Post notes that such a fear indicates that the president’s own staff “revealed damaging information to Mueller.” If the information wasn’t damaging, the report continues, “then Trump staffers would have no reason to fear their boss’s wrath.”

Ultimately, if you’re so afraid of the truth coming out, chances are you aren’t innocent.
