Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has guaranteed victory for her party in the 2020 elections. One of the ways she will make good on her promise is by making sure the House passes popular bills which will be rejected by the White House and the GOP-controlled Senate.
One such bill — to put back in place Obama-era net neutrality rules — will come up for a vote tomorrow. This will place Democrats on a collision course with Republicans — and it will show the American people which party represents the people and which party represents large corporate interests.
By highlighting this contrast Pelosi plans to communicate loud and clear that voters can trust her and her party to pass legislation that impacts Americans’ lives for the better.
Pelosi has a vote Tuesday on the “Save the Internet Act,” which will reinstate the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) regulations requiring that internet service providers treat all web traffic the same. These so-called “net neutrality” rules keep the internet open for all people to use equally.
Pelosi’s bill will prohibit internet service providers (ISPs) from blocking or slowing down web content or from creating internet fast lanes. Under net neutrality, ISPs must treat all Internet communications the same. They are not allowed to discriminate or charge differently based on user, content, website, platform, application, type of equipment, or method of communication.
Democrats believe that without the net neutrality rules, the internet will no longer be free and open to all users, and then will become a tool for big business and the wealthy. They think that their bill is a necessary step to make sure the internet remains accessible to all.
“This bill will reverse the administration’s repeal of critical net neutrality protections which will empower the SEC to prohibit unjust, unreasonable and discriminatory practices and ensures consumers can make informed decisions when shopping for internet plans,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said about the upcoming vote.
Nancy Pelosi Will Pass Bills to Embarrass Republicans and Make Them Look Bad
The importance of tomorrow’s scheduled vote is that it shows Nancy Pelosi’s game plan to guarantee another Blue Wave in the 2020 elections. There will be many more votes on popular bills in the next year and a half — such as on healthcare and protecting pre-existing conditions, and on infrastructure.
Nancy Pelosi knows how to play the Washington game better than anyone. And she knows what bills the House must pass to look good to American voters. With her in charge, Democrats surely are guaranteed to win another big victory in 2020.
