Release The Report: 84% Of Americans Want Trump To Stop Covering Up Mueller’s Findings

Last updated on March 28th, 2019 at 03:01 pm

While Donald Trump and his loyalists continue to take victory laps after Attorney General William Barr released his summary of Robert Mueller‘s report, the American people aren’t satisfied.

According to a survey conducted by Quinnipiac University, a whopping 84 percent of the country believes Mueller’s findings should be made public.

In other words, voters don’t think Barr’s four-page public relations document is enough. They want to see the actual report, not a few cherry-picked fragments.

“Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report should be made public, American voters say 84 – 9 percent in a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today,” the poll’s press release noted.

Support for releasing the special counsel report to the public was seen across every demographic polled.

Republicans say 75 – 17 percent the report should be made public and every other listed party, gender, education, age and racial group supports making the report public by even wider margins.”

The Mueller report must be released immediately

Donald Trump and his allies wasted no time in overplaying their hand following the release of Barr’s summary on Sunday. Since the four-page letter was released, they have been wrongly claiming that Trump is fully exonerated, when one quote from Mueller’s report says just the opposite.

They have also waged an assault on the media for having the nerve to cover the still-suspicious contacts the Trump campaign had with Russia during the 2016 election.

While the Trump team’s activity in 2016 may not be criminally chargeable, according to Mueller, it was still evident that they knew Russia was meddling on their behalf, and they were welcoming these actions.

At the end of the day, the American people don’t seem as jubilant about Barr’s summary as the White House does. They still want to see Mueller‘s full report and the underlying evidence. They don’t want to be spoonfed political spin from William Barr, a man who was installed as attorney general for the very purpose of protecting this president.

The longer this administration slow-walks the release of the report, the more hollow Trump‘s celebrations look.

If Donald Trump and his shameless Republican allies in Congress have nothing to fear in Mueller‘s report, they should release it in full to the public immediately. Anything short of that is unacceptable.
