Ann Coulter on Monday said Democrats can win in 2020 by pointing out that President Trump “hasn’t kept any of his promises” after reports that special counsel Robert Mueller found no conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.
Coulter, the best-selling conservative writer who has gone from Trump supporter to harsh Trump critic due to his failure to build a wall on the Mexican border, is now suggesting that Democrats tell Americans that Trump has failed to meet his promises.
Coulter wrote on Twitter:
“Hey liberals! Hot tip for you: You want to go after Trump? Point out he hasn’t kept any of his promises.”
Democrats in Congress, as well as a majority of American voters, are opposed to building a wall on the border. Congress even passed a bipartisan measure overturning Trump’s attempt to declare a national emergency to get the wall built. Trump vetoed that measure passed by the House and Senate.
Coulter’s criticisms have stung the president. She was once a strident supporter of Trump, but in recent months has repeatedly criticized him for failing to keep his promises..
She attacked him harshly for agreeing to a short-term spending deal to end the 35-day government shutdown without guaranteeing funding for the wall. She claimed that Trump had “folded” and received nothing in return.
Then in February she posted very derogatory tweets about Trump’s reasons for declaring a national emergency as a way to get around Congress:
She tweeted
“No, the goal of a national emergency is for Trump to scam the stupidest people in his base for 2 more years.”
“The goal is to get Trump’s stupidest voters to say “HE’S FIGHTING!” No he’s not. If he signs this bill, it’s over.”
Coulter also called Trump’s State of the Union address earlier this year the “lamest, sappiest, most intentionally tear-jerking SOTU ever.
In January Coulter appeared as a guest of Bill Maher on his “Real Time” show on HBO and admitted that Donald Trump “is an insane liar.”
