Trump Is In Trouble in Ohio As Union Leader Slams GOP Tax Scam

Donald Trump may be in trouble in Ohio. He won the state’s electoral votes in the 2016 election after promising to bring back factory jobs. But recent events show that factory workers have lost faith in the president they voted for.

David Green of the United Auto Workers (UAW) of Ohio spoke with CNN this morning and slammed Trump for breaking his campaign promises for workers.

The UAW leader was targeted by Trump in an angry tweet this week, so this morning he hit back at the president.

On Sunday Trump tweeted:

Democrat UAW Local 1112 President David Green ought to get his act together and produce. G.M. let our Country down, but other much better car companies are coming into the U.S. in droves. I want action on Lordstown fast. Stop complaining and get the job done! 3.8% Unemployment!”

During a CNN segment about the closing of an Ohio General Motors (GM) plant, Green identified the Republican Party’s 2017 tax law as the main reason for GM’s decision to shut down plants in the area.

The union leader said on CNN:

“The GOP tax cut gave corporations like GM an incentive to build products outside the state.”

“I just wanted him to understand that… the regulations on books aren’t really helping working people, it’s not helping companies that actually employ people.”

He then reminded viewers of Trump’s 2016 campaign vows about helping factory workers. And he said the president has fallen far short of even coming close to meeting his promises.

“A lot of people here voted for him,” Green said. “He came here and told folks, ‘Don’t sell your house, those jobs are coming back.’ And we’ve seen job losses.”

The GM plant in Lordstown, Ohio closed two weeks ago, resulting in layoffs of 1,400 auto workers, causing widespread economic problems in the area.

Ohio Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown also was interviewed by CNN and complained about Trump’s lack of help. The interview was reported via tweet:

“We just finally woke him up. I’ve been talking to him about the plant for over a year,” Ohio @SenSherrodBrown says about Pres. Trump’s criticism over the closure of Ohio General Motors plant.

“He’s only now getting engaged when he thinks he has to.”

On Sunday presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke also met with Green:

Donald Trump Is In Trouble So He Is Blaming Union Workers and Democrats

Donald Trump has gone back to his playbook of blaming others for his mistakes and broken promises, but it won’t work in Ohio anymore. Union workers and other people who voted for Trump in 2016 know that his promises were nothing but lies. They also know that the GOP tax scam gave benefits to rich people and corporations, but not to workers.

Trump’s desperate and unhinged tweets show that he knows he’s in trouble. And there’s nothing he can do about it. His unhinged tweets aren’t helping him at all.
