Trump Crashes And Burns As Just 13% Support His Cuts To Medicare

Trump proposed cuts to Medicare have landed with a resounding thud as just 13% of the country support his idea to slash the beloved program.

A new PPP poll found numbers that are beyond ugly for Trump: Voters overwhelmingly oppose the cuts to Medicare and Medicaid inTrump’s budget:

– 72% oppose the Medicare Cuts in Trump’s Budget.

– By a 59-point margin (72% to 13%) voters oppose the proposed budget because it includes an 845 billion dollar cut to Medicare. 81% of voters over the age of 65 say they oppose these cuts, and 70% of Independents also oppose the cuts to Medicare.

– 60% oppose the Medicaid Cuts in Trump’s Budget. Bya36-point margin (60% to 24%) voters oppose the proposed budget because it includes more than 1-trillion dollar cut to Medicaid. 59% of Independents say they oppose the cuts to Medicaid.

Trump’s proposed cuts make voters less likely to vote for him

The proposal to cut Medicare and Medicaid hurts Trump with voters to such a degree that they are less likely to vote for him just because he proposed the idea of cuts.

-50% of voters say they’re less likely to support Trump because he broke his promise not to cut Medicare and Medicaid-including 54% with independents–while only 14% say they’re more likely to support him.

-54% of voters say they’re less likely to support Trump because he cut Medicare & Medicaid after giving away hundreds of billions of dollars in new tax breaks for big corporations, including 57% of voters people overage 65 and 51% of Independents. Just 15% say they’re more likely to support Trump due to the cuts.

-52% of voters say they’d vote for Trump’s Democratic opponent for President if the election were held today, compared to just 41% who say they’d vote for Trump.

Trump’s budget isn’t going to pass. These cuts are never going to happen, but just by suggesting them, Trump has damaged himself politically and his chances for reelection.

Trump broke one of the cardinal rules of American politics. He tried to mess with Medicare and Medicaid, and he is already paying the price.
