Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election chances took another hit today when a new poll was published in Michigan showing his support in that state has severely dissipated since 2016.
In the 2016 election Trump won Michigan by just 10,000 votes, representing .27% of the total votes cast.
The new poll shows that the vast majority of Michigan voters participating in the survey do not plan to vote for Trump again should he run for president in the 2020 election.
In fact, just 31 percent of poll participants said they will definitely vote to re-elect Trump in 2020.
The poll, conducted by EPIC-MRA of Lansing, Michigan, is consistent with other recent polls done in Michigan as well as in some other states such as Wisconsin and Florida.
Taken together these polls show that show Trump is in big trouble in swing states he won in 2016.
The new poll was taken during a time when the president has had a series of failures both domestically and in foreign affairs.
According to the new poll:
“The vote to re-elect numbers are 31 percent — 11 points below the (Republican) Party identification. That spells trouble for him,” said EPIC-MRA pollster Bernie Porn. “And there are people who saying they like him, or are giving him a positive job rating, who are still saying they won’t re-elect him. That gap is a problem.”
Although there is time for Donald Trump’s poll numbers to improve over the next 20 months, it does appear that his reelection chances are very dismal right now. Also, it is possible that as more revelations come out about his crimes and collusion with Russia, his poll numbers could go down even further.
This new poll is the latest evidence that it is very unlikely that Donald Trump will remain president after his first term runs out. Of course, he may not even make it that far.
