CNN’s Jim Acosta delivered the facts about what’s going on at the border, and Trump melted down and called reality fake news.
Here was the exchange:
Acosta: I wonder if you could comment on this disconnect we seem to have in this country where you are presenting information about what’s happening at the border, calling it an invasion, talking about women with duct tape over their mouths and so on. Yet there’s a lot of reporting out there, there’s a lot of crime data out there, there’s a lot of department of homeland security data out there that shows border crossings at a near record low.
Trump: That’s because of us.
Acosta: Undocumented —
Trump: Excuse me, it’s still massive —
Acosta: It shows undocumented migrants committing crime at lower rates than natural born Americans. I believe in facts and statistics and video.
Trump: Quick, let’s go.
Acosta: Let me ask you this, what do you say to your critics who say you are creating a national emergency? You’re concocting a national emergency here in order to get your wall because you couldn’t get it through other ways?
Trump: What do you think? Do you think I’m creating something? Ask these incredible women who lost their daughters and their sons. Okay. Because your question is a very political question. You have an agenda. You’re CNN, you’re fake news. You have an agenda. The numbers that you gave are wrong. Take a look at our federal prison population. See how many of them percentage wise are illegal aliens. Just see. Go ahead and see. It’s a fake question.

The problem is that when confronted with statistics, facts, and reality, the President Of the United States screamed fake news, attacked the credibility of the organization employing the reporter, and then denied reality.
Trump is living in a fantasy of his own creation. One consistency since Trump became a presidential candidate is when he is confronted with anything that disagrees with his disreality bubble, he doesn’t objectively examine information and change his mind. He starts ranting about fake news and doubles down on his opinion.
What the nation witnessed in the Rose Garden was a president at war with reality, and when good reporters try to challenge the president they get met with a wall of denial and complaints about fake news. Trump is a crumbling facade that is turning to dust with a dangerous finger on executive power.
