Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tried to argue that Trump‘s border wall would stop gun violence, as he tried to get a father who lost his child in the Parkland shooting kicked out of the building.
Gaetz argued that a House bill expanding background checks would not reduce gun violence, but a border wall would, “But a wall, a barrier on our southern border, may have. If we cared about safer streets, we’d build the wall and secure the border.”

Gaetz followed up his the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a border wall routine by trying to get Parkland dad, Manuel Oliver, kicked out of the hearing:
Not a single one of the mass shootings that occurred in 2018 was carried about by an illegal immigrant. Unless Trump‘s border wall is bulletproof and can transport itself instantly around the country to protect shooting victims, a wall will not protect the country from mass shootings or lower gun violence.
Rep. Gaetz is a blind follower of Donald Trump, which means that he says a lot of stupid things on an almost daily basis, but claiming that a border wall can stop gun violence and then trying to get a man who lost his son in mass shooting kicked out of a hearing, isn’t just stupid, it is cruel and corrupt to the core.
