Trump Calls Joe Biden Dumb Before He Makes Plea For National Unity

Last updated on July 18th, 2023 at 11:26 am

Unity is just another word for let Trump bully you with a smile on your face.

Or so it seems.

Hours before his expected call for ‘unity’ during his State of the Union address, Trump dismissed former Vice President Joe Biden as dumb, “I hope it’s Biden. Biden was never very smart. He was a terrible student. His gaffes are unbelievable. When I say something that you might think is a gaffe, it’s on purpose; it’s not a gaffe. When Biden says something dumb, it’s because he’s dumb.” The New York Times reported.

Trump also called Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer a “nasty son of a bitch” and bragged that Gov. Ralph Northam was “choking like a dog” hours before his State of the Union address.

Or, you know, extended a hand in unity like you do by insulting and making fun of people.

The White House said Trump would call for unity Tuesday evening. So naturally, Tuesday afternoon Trump indulged in one of his favorite pastimes of nursery school mockery from the largest bully pulpit in the world while at a private lunch for television anchors just hours before the address.

Trump was once referred to by one of his former college professors as the dumbest student that he ever had.
It’s fair to say that Trump does not excel at diplomacy; in fact, he seems to only recognize the “I win” side of diplomacy, which is to say, he rather sucks at it. A statesman he is not.

If Trump calls for unity, it will be nothing but more phony, two-faced, empty words meant to gaslight the nation. There can be no unity with a person who uses racism as a political weapon to maintain power, and not only does Trump do that, but he is the original birther, and one does not experience “unity” with someone who rose to power out of appealing to the worst in our country.

The only response to Donald Trump‘s call for unity is a list of requests for things he could do to show that he is actually interested in doing his part in unity, like protecting DREAMers, like not egging on hatred and division, like allowing our law enforcement agencies to do their jobs, like not calling people names… But if you have to ask someone to stop calling you names, the chances of them rising to any occasion are slim to none.
