Trump Tells Massive Lies in Bonkers Interview With NY Times

Donald Trump arranged for an interview with the New York Times, apparently so he could use the prominent newspaper as a forum for disseminating more lies. Specifically, he tried to convince the interviewers that the Moscow Trump Tower project was not a business deal, and that when foreign countries use his hotels he loses money.  He also issued several denials concerning legal matters which were obviously untrue.

In the interview Trump maintained that while running for president he didn’t need to disclose that he was trying to negotiate a deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

When asked by Times reporter Peter Baker if he felt that he’d lied to the American public when he said he had no business dealings with Russia during the 2016 campaign, Trump replied to say that a major deal to build a massive Trump-branded skyscraper in the Russian capital shouldn’t be seen as a business deal.

“That wasn’t business,” Trump said. “Peter, that wasn’t business.”

“Isn’t that misleading to say you weren’t pursuing business there, right?” Baker pressed again.

“I had no money invested. It was a letter of intent, or option. It was a free option. It was a nothing. And I wasn’t doing anything. I don’t consider that even business. And frankly, that wasn’t even on my radar. If you take a look at that, take a look at the deal. There was no money put up. There was no transfer. I don’t think they had a location. I’m not even sure if they had a location.”

In fact, according to a letter of intent signed by Trump himself in late 2015, the proposed Tower would have been located in Moscow City, a major commercial district of the Russian capital that is home to some of Europe’s tallest skyscrapers.

And many details of the proposed business transaction have been published, proving just how serious Trump was about the project.

In the interview Trump also complained about how much money he’s lost by being president, saying:

“I lost massive amounts of money doing this job. This is not about the money. This one of the great losers of all time.”

“You know, fortunately, I don’t need money. This is one of the great losers of all time. But they’ll say that somebody from some country stayed at a hotel. And I’ll say, ‘Yeah.’ But I lose, I mean, the numbers are incredible.”

“I love this job,” Trump added.

During the interview Trump also made the following denials, which are questionable, to say the least:

Trump denied that he discussed Wikileaks with Roger Stone

“No, I didn’t,” Trump claimed. “I never did,”

Trump denied that he is at odds with his intelligence agency chiefs

“They said, ‘Sir, our testimony was totally mischaracterized,’” Trump argued. “I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ And when you read their testimony and you read their statements, it was mischaracterized by the media.”

Trump denied that he is the focus of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation

He said Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, “told the attorneys that I’m not a subject, I’m not a target.”

Hopefully the readers of the New York Times are smart enough to see through Trump’s lies and recognize that almost nothing he says is true.
