Sen. Richard Blumenthal Says Donald Trump Jr. Should Be Criminally Charged

Last updated on January 21st, 2019 at 02:37 pm

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said that there is enough evidence that Donald Trump Jr. lied to Congress for the president’s son to face criminal charges.

Sen. Blumenthal said on MSNBC‘s The Beat with Ari Melber, “I think there is enough evidence here of potential perjury from Donald Trump Jr. To call him back to our committee, to consider criminal charges against him, and to follow the evidence and the law as to investigating him. I think there is potentially an even stronger case to be made against him right now.”

Blumenthal later added, “If he lied if he committed perjury before our committee, and I was in the room when he said to us, I was only peripherally aware. That statement but also other statements, for example, his denying that he talked to the president about the trump tower meeting before or after it occurred. His saying that he was only peripherally aware about the Moscow Trump Tower project but also his denial of talking to the president about it, his father. I think there is a lot here, a lot of smoke and there may well be fire.”

After the Buzzfeed report revealed that Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, along with their father were receiving extensive briefings from Michael Cohen about the Moscow Trump Tower project, it is clear that the president’s son lied to the Senate. It has also become increasingly obvious that the Trump strategy was to comprehensively lie to Congress about all Russia scandal matters.

The Trumps never considered what would happen to their lies if Democrats took back all or part of Congress.

Donald Trump is afraid that Mueller is going to indict his son.
Trump Jr. probably will be charged, and the fallout from this event should set up a presidential downward spiral like this country has never seen before.
